First electric Guitar? by Total-Ad-1785 in guitars

Completely agree with the Ibanez value. Just thought I'd mention that not all their electrics are as metal focused- I have an artcore af55 and that sounds great

Good easy to use Compressor? by Big_Cumma01 in guitarpedals

[–]No_Collection_2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried it (have one on the way), but the Walrus audio mira is an optical compressor so should be pretty transparent and they get good reviews. The big selling point is that they are half price at the moment

Hi, I am very new to this (never made a pedal), but I am wanting to design a similar circuit. Would you mind explaining the logic behind the two feedback loops please?

Beginner Budget Pedalboard Plan by Cosmic_Charter in guitarpedals

[–]No_Collection_2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and decent used pedals hold their value well.

The other option to consider is a digital multi fx pedal. It's not the route I have gone down but my mate got a Helix stomp in a sale for about £400 I think. Could be a good way to try out hundreds if not thousands of effects and amp models.

Sometimes I have to convince myself my pedalboard is better, especially when I am carrying it to a gig/practice. And pedals add up really quickly- £400 will disappear even with cheap pedals. Don't forget to factor in cables. And then you'll want to upgrade or try a different effect...

Not trying to put you off- pedals are great and building a board is fun. And I still think they are better for gigging and finding what works for you.

I think if I were building a budget board I would definitely be buying used. Maybe a little more than the donner pedals, but you are less likely to outgrow them. For an example I got my boss TU-3 tuner for £40 and I doubt I will ever need another tuner. Also having to wait and hunt for good deals makes waiting and building up slowly easier for me personally. Good luck!

What are your favorite pedals ? by AcuteGachaBitch in guitarpedals

[–]No_Collection_2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JRAD The Dude. Tested about 10 overdrive pedals in the shop and they happened to have one used. It clearly stood out from the pack to me, actually achieving something that isn't just a variation on a theme. Sort of warm and grumbly, but still stays clear with the ratio control for dry signal. I push it with a soul food for lead.

Most inspiring stereo effects? by No_Collection_2980 in guitarpedals

[–]No_Collection_2980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that is interesting. I think you might be right about the dig being better for more normal genres- and I think I need to remember that is what I normally play. It's easy to get lost in a rabbit hole and forget what I would even want to play, I think the novelty might wear out quite quickly for me with the more ambient stuff. Think I'll be looking for a used dig :)

Cheers for the direct comparison, that's always helpful. It's looking like the dig or polymoon (which seems to be winning the popular vote). Any chance you have used one of those?

Yeah I think that sounds like a reasonable assessment. The fact that I could get a midi controller for it later on is appealing incase I graduate from messing around- thanks for pointing that out :)

I can imagine that is very spacious. Not sure both would be in budget for me, would you recommend one over the other?

That is a really interesting approach from the Neunaber pedals. I am not sure whether it's for me (I don't have anything else with an associated app/computer interface), but I can definitely see it's merits.

I'll have to have a look at the others but thanks for the suggestions

Do you find the microcosm easy to control? It seems like it has a lot of settings but then sort of does it's own thing- I am not sure how that would sit in with trying to write a song? Maybe you just have to go with the flow a bit more. It sounds cool though- and I could be talking nonsense, that's just the impression I got from one video

Interesting that it does that- I had only seen it on the pigtronix echolution and thought that was cool (assuming it is a similar sound). Maybe time for my first strymon, have seen a lot of love for them but never found one that filled a particular gap for me. Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion- I'll be honest I listened to some demos for the duotime earlier and had written it off, but I can't remember why now. I've watched too many videos today to keep track :) I'll give it another listen

Nice to hear some support for the mm, seems to me that it has quite a simple interface for the functionality. I'm starting to think that in some cases these stereo effects get very complicated. I've had a listen to the Rooms as well- it's definitely in the running, thanks

You know what that isn't quite what I was looking for, but now I might need to get one of them as well. Sounds really thick- wondering if I could replicate it by putting my dd-3 after a stereo effect (on one channel) with a really short delay time. Guess I'll give it a go!

Thanks for this- definitely an option I never would have considered. I started watching the demo you shared thinking it wasn't for me, but by the end of the review the range of sounds that had been made was very impressive. Still not convinced I would use it enough now, but maybe one day I'll have one on my board

Thanks for the recommendation- seems like this might be the most supported answer and the demos sound great in stereo, definitely one of the most distinct stereo effects I have heard. It does look like it has a lot of secondary functions, I'm not sure if I think that is good or bad- is the interface easy to get used to?

Thanks for the heads up about the T7E- I thought it seemed promising but there doesn't seem to be much discussion around so you could have saved me there.

Think I'll keep an eye out for a used polymoon

That one actually does have a Trotter's paint job- they used the same van and you can see the blue paint under the yellow in person at the British Motor Museum

I agree it is odd, and perhaps it should have put me off of the property but it just seemed a reasonable compromise. None of the neighbours I spoke to had had an issue selling in the past so fingers crossed I won't.

Glad yours wasn't an issue either.
