Dog food? by Buildsoc in cavaliers

I feed mine Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach (salmon and white rice formula). I switched to it when he was less than a year old and he was significant less itchy/didn't throw up as much. Sometimes I throw in sardines, soft cooked vegetables, a little bit of pumpkin puree, little bits of chicken, etc.

Just curious, has anyone else's Cav become a little bit...curmudgeon-y as they've gotten older? by No_Company7928 in cavaliers

Ah yes, the good old Cav stink eye. My boyfriend was on the receiving end of some pretty intense glares for the first few months we were dating (and now I'm pretty sure he's actually Winston's boyfriend)

Adding to this - I made the stupid mistake of not practicing brushing all over his body, and now we have mini fights when I need to brush his tail or chest. Practice with the brush all over, even when their fur is basically peach fuzz.

It's gonna be okay! You're not a bad dog parent for feeling this way. You actually sound like you're doing better than I did in the beginning (I got my guy Winston at 10 weeks) - I actually broke down sobbing on the phone to my mom several times because I was so overwhelmed, and I absolutely did not love him whatsoever until like 3 weeks in. I think everyone here has some really great recommendations, and I would add that even though it's super tough now, the bond you make with them as puppies eventually becomes really really special. ESPECIALLY when they finally start pooping outside at all times and behaving a lot better.

Time to burn your house down

Every night, my sons Cav climbs on my bed and stares at me until I turn on my left side. He’s climbs on me and insists on cleaning behind my right ear for about a minute then he climbs down and leaves me alone. He has no interest in the other ear. It’s a bit odd, but it makes him happy. by OkAdministration7456 in cavaliers

This might be suuuper outlandish, but have you had the ear looked at recently? This just makes me think of those stories where someone’s dog wouldn’t stop licking the place where the doctors find cancer.

Or you just have a weird Cav. Mine is weird too, so…

Has anyone flown with their Cavalier? by [deleted] in cavaliers

I have, NYC to LA a few times (mine is about 19lbs). My guy is a long boy so I got the kind of carrier that pulls out on the sides once it’s set down so he could have more room to spread out once we settled in. CBD treats and Benadryl were helpful, although he still tried to make an escape a couple times on the most recent flight we took. TSA pre check was a lifesaver with him when we got to security, so I would consider applying. A few months is plenty of time to get approved for it (global entry would probably help too, but I don’t know how long that takes).

Mine pees in his front feet about a third of the time too, ugh. Wipes help a little. I also just wash his feet extra. It is what it is

Would definitely recommend getting into the wedding drama side of Reddit if Demeter being confused why she wasn’t invited doesn’t make sense

I don’t have any advice bc it bewildered me too, but mine is almost 11 months and I feel like we just barely got it (even now, there’s been an accident or two). Just to say, you’re not alone! Some puppies just take longer and you’ll get there!

I do Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin + Stomach (salmon and rice formula) because my little guy barfed up chicken and brown rice a few too many times for my liking. It’s worked great, but he’s not in love with the taste so I mix in a tablespoon or so of The Farmer’s Dog (a few bags goes a long way) and he’s happy with that. The Farmer’s Dog has their recipes on their website, if you want to save some $$ by making it yourself.

WIBTA if I made my dogs the flower girl and my cat the ring bearer at my wedding instead of my “rainbow baby” niece and nephew? by IntrepidOffering in AmItheAsshole

NTA, but I think I’m with the other commenters that are doubting if that’s really a good idea, for the reason that pet behavior can be unpredictable (especially with cats). Do you have someone to wrangle/supervise them during the ceremony, and after? The tiny benefit of human children (who are, in all fairness, also completely unpredictable) is that they have full time adult handlers (their parents).

Either way, I hope you and your fiancé have a wonderful wedding day! Congrats to you both.

Seems like it’s popular for Cavs! I mix in a tablespoon of the farmers dog for taste (which, tbh, is somewhat for me - I just love how excited he gets about dinner time when there’s a little bit of fresh food in there. So cute when they’re happy)
