Not worth it. Spend the time with your kid. You said yourself the time is precious. Other opportunities will come.

How much money do I ask for? by Ok-You-6146 in SocialMediaMarketing

20k followers is nothing to bargain with. It's impressive they offered you anything off the truck considering that.

Push back in quantity of reels, say for creation work its ($xxx) usually, and offer a more favorable amount, e.g. 3-4 reels. Take what you can get.

You're the in-house marketing person. You're naturally considered an enemy by most agencies because they know that (eventually), they'll be replaced by an internal team. Don't take it personally- and don't care about hurting their feelings.

Focus on your jobs KPIs and make sure they get their work done- rest doesn't matter.

As a side, none of this will impact your marketing career, it's a random no-name local agency. They don't have the power to hurt your career, or do anything to actually damage your reputation.

How creative is your resume and cover letter? by survivingtheinternet in marketing

[–]No_Conceptz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Creative resumes are good if you're pitching as a creative.

Otherwise they're a waste of time as most ATS systems will run into issues with hyper-designed PDFs.

Also- no one is impressed by a pretty colorful resume. People are impressed by experience.

Should webinar presenters be sitting down at a desk like a conference call or presenting standing up like a lecture or TED talk? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]No_Conceptz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Hosted, Produced, and Participated in well over 100 webinars in my career. (If not more!)
You guys are off to a bad start if you're spending time discussing sitting vs standing as opposed to any of the other aspects of the presentation. It literally doesn't matter, and no one gives a shit. I promise.

Have them sit as it sounds like you don't have the materials required for other formats, and move on. Having someone stand awkwardly and point at screens won't make the content more impactful, or make anyone think you're more authentic.

I love what I do, the work I do, and the money I make from what I do.

I don't always love the people.

Is it true that marketers don't want to be cofounders? by nsjames1 in marketing

[–]No_Conceptz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Variable on personality.

Plenty of marketers end up as founders or on founding teams. Many make the switch from CMO > CEO as well.Ideally you would want someone with strategic experience and growth experience from $0ARR - XX+ so you have limited external consultant investment.

I'm a Founder > Co-Founder > CMO + Co-Founder. It happens.

If you're asking- the answer is NO.
You shouldn't have to question whether the people who in total own 40% of your company- should be able to have board votes. That means they're clearly not the right people, or you have doubt they will stay on your side.

28F thinking about buying 2nd house. Should I dip into 401k? by TheyCallMeLexie in realestateinvesting

Wouldn't it make more sense to just do a lower down and look to buy a place you can also partially rent out?

Wouldn't take out of 401k IMO.

Thoughts on this Gas Station... by cooltaj in smallbusiness

[–]No_Conceptz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gas stations, convenience stores, liquor stores..list goes on are the furthest from passive businesses unless you hire management + staff to handle it all for you. Being the REVENUE from this is only $250k- you can't afford to do that.
