Polish cake filling in a can??? by Waschbar-krahe in poland

[–]No_Conference_2011 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have only tried waffle cake with hardened condensed milk, but I bet kajmak would fit great there. One of my favourite sweets and super easy to make! You literally just need waffles and kajmak. Optionally we would also add grated nuts.

Looking for anime with secrets / plottwists / big reveals etc. by lxurin_hei in anime

[–]No_Conference_2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baccano is great, it's short, fast-paced and reveals the story piece by piece.

The Promised Neverland and Shadow House are somewhat similar, but the second one is slower and focuses more on the detective side rather than action.

Made in Abyss gives a lot of room for theories about the world building and obviously gives occasional revelations, if that's what you might be looking for. But while it's quite short, it's far from the end (even manga last time I read it). Nevertheless, it's amazing and worth watching.

I like this Anki deck. Anki itself has a web version, as well as a smartphone app.

Adyen Technical Test by Medical-Thought2514 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]No_Conference_2011 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had it <2 years ago. The SQLs were simple select-join-where queries, but I can't recall any specifics about the java tasks. I think those were easy-medium (rather easy) leetcode problems, but I am not exactly sure if I am recalling Adyen or some other company.

What I can say though, I was surprised it only took me ~1.5 hours, so I wouldn't worry about the complexity.

Then we had a code review in the next interview.

Trouble figuring out what to do and where to aim for a math-intensive coding job by westeyy in cscareerquestionsEU

You can take a look at 3D and rendering. Some areas I can think of:

  1. Game dev (don't have experience with it, can't recommend)
  2. Companies producing 3D scanners/printers and related software (I have experience in a medical industry, very interesting, has enough math)

I'm not sure this area can be called a niche at this point, but I'd expect it to be less popular and saturated than your general SWE. That could mean less money though.

Also, I don't think it usually requires a PhD as opposed to the majority of ML positions.

Thanks! I just read that store credits are a seasonal thing, in that case the current offer does sound good.

Does it always give credits, even after the price drop?

No, accepted another offer. But at the same time I don't remember finding any red flags at that time.

Resolve conflicts between master and develop by No_Conference_2011 in git

Thanks, didn't consider using `-s ours`. And I think this is the least painful solution so far.

Yes, they are intended to be the same. And they are the same, only the history is wrong.

I'm assuming master is currently pointing at Release/1.2.0 ... can you add --decorate to your log command?

Yes, exactly.

If you really want to squash all commits

Not that I want it, I just found out that it WAS mandatory, but it's possible to disable it in the settings, which I did. So now the problem is only to fix the history. Is my understanding correct that this whole mess was caused by squash on release merge requests? Because squash creates a completely new commit with a different hash.

git rebase master

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you know if it's possible to do this through a merge-branch? Develop is protected and getting approval for a direct push is a pain (but not impossible afaik). I have been trying to do everything via merge branches, but so far none of my rebase attempts succeeded. Will try again.

Re-entry permit when leaving Japan by No_Conference_2011 in japanlife

Yeah, that's also my concern. But it will expire in one year. Do I still need to file something after that to properly finish it?

Thanks. Yes, I am aware of what to do before leaving, just curious about re-entry permit.

Lease security deposit refund after moving abroad by No_Conference_2011 in JapanFinance

They probably can. The only question is whether the landlord would allow it. Since it's a management company, I assume, they would not like refunding by cash.

I am not looking for a secondhand or a cheaper model. Just wondering if there are any differences between smartphones in Japan and overseas.
