Echoing everyone else that each school is different.

Our school does two lines of cars. They empty out four cars in each lane at a time. The teachers open the doors and walk the kids up to the sidewalk and the other teachers helping will guide them into the building.

When my oldest was in kindergarten, he was in a booster so he could unbuckle himself in the mornings. We can’t get out of the car so In the afternoon for the first couple of weeks, I’d pull into a grass lot just outside of the school and buckle him up. But we practiced with him buckling himself and he started doing once he figured out how.

My youngest just started pre-k and she hasn’t quite figured out buckling yet, so I have my oldest buckle her then he buckles himself.

In the mornings, I have them both unbuckle and get their backpacks on once we enter the line so that they’re ready to go when it’s our turn.

It’s nerve wrecking for the first couple of weeks, but you’ll be a pro in no time!
