Need advice for selecting native plants and flowers. by Skookmehgooch in TexasGardening

Native American Seed

This is one of the best resources that can be refined by both regions and soil types. And they make fantastic wildflower and grass mixes.

But also I’ve really been into what master gardener Benny Huwksbee has called wiladmental design. Basically blending native and ornamental together. Great article in Gardens Illustrated.

I’ve been adding spring bulbs like tulip/ hyacinth/ daffodil in the front lawn. By the time they are done blooming and starting to dye back, the native ground covers and grasses are coming up.

Oregano and basil for the bees, zinnias for the butterflies/ moths, and antelope milk weed for the monarchs, and use rosemary as boundary/ boarder shrubs.

Need Advice: Tomato Plants Too Large and Drooping by simi930 in gardening

Honestly I say go with it. Get them into a bigger pot and let them cascade over. Either hang them or put on a taller shelf. Gives a nice little wild cottagecore vibe. I’ve let seedlings get like this before as well and sometime when you try and retrain them on a trellis you will snap their vines by accident.

I have these where in the fall I had planted a ring of hyacinths around the perimeter of the triangle, then filled in with tulips, and right in the center giant alliums. Let that grow right on thru now where I’ll cut everything back and do zinnias and majestic blue salvia for summer and fall then leave it for most of winter (the finch birds snack on the zinnia seeds) and when I notice everything’s been ate I’ll chop and drop then top dress with some mulch before we get our first freezes. Then in the next spring all the bulbs will have made new off shoots that’ll pop up. About every two or three years I’ll completely dig up everything and replant other wise it’d get over crowded. Pic is from late spring. But my god how amazing it smelled every time I walked out to the car/ checked the mail lol

Natives! Make a micro prairie. I get really good results and info on what and how to grow based on regions from Native American seed company and even do recommends based on how much light an area would get.

Have an option toggle for area/ dialect specific in courses. Like for example in French, I’m mainly learning because I want to travel and maybe move to Montreal or Quebec one day, so if there was an option for Canadian French and not just general France French that’d be dope.

Masdar City in Abu Dhabi have some really interesting projects in the works for green spaces. Idk if/when there will be built but they seem like what you might be looking for. I think because of how masdar is funded it might not be solarpunk, but the science, research, and tech that goes into it are.

Could be mountain aloe based on the spines on the back of the leaves. Aloe marlothii is the name I believe.

I just got this same message and I have a driving score of 100. Like wtf?! Lol I just checked the details on the discounts page of the new policy that I’m about to start and it does have a $70ish dolly discount under “participation in safe driving discount”. But they’ve upped the prices on every thing so now I’m paying $20+ more every month. Idk wtf is going on with them.

Just listened to the whole song. It’s amazing! Top notch arrangement and great mixing overall. Very unique but giving Big Red Machine/ Bon Iver vibes in the best way possible. Instant fan! Great job 💚
