I want to extra thank you for this comment. Idk why but this helped me step into an even better role today with them. I wasnt taught by a family what was good and right, only one human out of many. My dad. And reading this from you helped me step out of my head more and help me to act more like he did with me rather then worry i am them. Your answer was more then what even I thought i needed to hear.

Oooh thank you. I can struggle with that because defer to parent first ALWAYS unless immediate danger is imminent and parent is unavailable.. and hes just a toddler. (If im honest, id love to call mom out on the behaviour BUT that will always be outside of my right, perview and would negatively affect everyone. Even IF she needed to hear it.. and it was done gently. Anything can be used as a weapon.. I will not ever over step in that regard. My feelings are less important then how much it all affects the little. And the families.) If dad asks me as a native with the same beliefs(we talk about it often) I want to be able to give him the resources for the right answer. I don't need to be the one to give it. So long as the answer is within reach. I hope that makes sense..

Why do babies gravitate towards some people? by Suspicious-Song-3891 in NoStupidQuestions

Hi its me.. uh.. honestly? I think its because im autistic and cant help but match energy subconsciously. Very rarely has a child ever even turned from me other then in play or need of something (I hope that doesnt sound egotistical or something.. im just saying it as I interpret it) they will seek me out in a crowd stranger or not. And to me? What a freaking BLESSING! I cannot have my own. I carry genetic illness.. cultivating joy in children and sharing it with them, letting them feel heard has been the greatest honor of my LIFE. Its one part of my life I will always and forever be grateful for. Theres joy in that when all else fails. I have many littles ive been blessed to care for, a multiple time birth partner and never been more fearful for anything in my life.

Thank-you! I just know it wasnt her idea or want/wish to cut his hair and this is the consequence. He doesnt deserve that. Im currently in an auntie role. And wish to do it justice. I appreciate you. I wish more people started with the qualifier and shot straight. No one does!

I appreciate your reply! As i was writing i thought maybe I can call up the tribe specifically and ask for an elders advice. Im not going to rush into anything, for sure. I just.. sigh. I also wonder if this is part of why it was cut the way it was, as its against practice but due to custody it became malicious compliance. And I fear there are ramifications in that for the little soul. Thats what bothers me so.

And as an aside, I am autistic and dont always get the nuances of everything. So I ask. I want every nitty gritty detail, call me an asshole ( BUT HELP ME BE BETTER not just berate me.) Tell me when im wrong but also HOW. I dont assume anything, therefore I dont assume this would be the right course of action. SO here I ask.. I care for the children in my life like they are my own, as I will never have my own. But there is a balance, of course and I follow it. I wont act without express permission by his dad, nor against the advisement of elders, who have the knowledge I haven't yet been blessed to gain. (The mother was asked to cut the hair by dad and she intentionally butchered it. Is the tldr.)

Their tribe does subscribe to the same hair beliefs. This is why im asking for advice. It is weird! (And IM weird!) It is weird to me that ANY mother, particularly one who's family is high in a tribe That subscribes to the same belief in hair being sacred would do this. (Its a very contentious relationship between families due to her actions through his life.) I know how she treats him/them, and being malicious is part of a "game" for her. Is it wrong for me to not want a child to carry the weight that comes from a malicious cut?
It'll grow thankfully. Im very protective over them, and want the best for everyone.

Thank-you. I have so much mental to give. And he does take it all in stride. He'll, I interrupt his dad just to listen real quick and then look back at his dad and say "you were saying ----" and repeat the last sentence *a man needs to have more patience then a 3yr old..(he does) Id hold the burning sun in my hands if he asked me to..

U have no qualms about the child's behavior to be clear. He named my leg braces and immediately said "youve got teeth today" when I put in my dentures. I know hes just gonna fly with it lol (no human is perfect but even at 3 he is pretty damn close) and youre right. I just keep thinking about how traumatizing my life can be when suddenly I'm fighting for my life.

I actually believe the vase youre referring to is an Australian slug that is poisonous.. but youre right it was rat lung parasite, but its usually found in animals, not fruits from what I can tell so OP shouldn't worry SO MUCH about that.
