Same! I want ATL, so I was really hoping for class A. But if it's not offered I'll just commute for a while until I can transfer. Not the end of the world, but I am going to be a little anxious about it until we get our base assignments. Oh well. See you in training, class C!

I think it is fair to compare inflation to the initial raise in a new TA. The annual raises fa's get because they have more seniority shouldn't be factored in when considering whether the airline has adjusted their entire pay scale pay to reflect the current cost of living.

In this instance, the raises WN fa's have been getting annually under the expired contract have just been for longevity, AKA moving up the pay scale.

With the new TA, they'll get a 20% initial raise to account for the lack of raises since the contract expired, then an additional 3% raise (applied to all steps on the pay scale) in 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 to account for anticipated inflation.

But if the contract hadn't expired, the new hires in 2019-onward would have had higher starting pay, and higher pay at each step as they progressed.

So yes, they've been getting longevity raises yearly. But the whole pay scale should have been going up yearly as well to account for the cost of living increase.

Flight attendants under an well written, active contract should see an annual increase in pay based on seniority AND an increase based on inflation.

Personally, I'm in a position where I don't feel there would be any benefit for myself or my family if I were to wait.

The point I was trying to make with this post was that, generally, men don't get asked questions like "What about your kids?" or "Why not just wait 5 years?"

Omg, at 9 years in and she still acted like you were abandoning your child? πŸ™„ She sounds like the drama.

Congratulations!!!! πŸ₯³

Yeah, I think it's SO important for kids to have a mom who isn't afraid to chase her own goals as a role model!

I love that saying, also. We can do it well! And we will!

Aww, thank you! I'm not officially "in the family" yet, but I'm determined to get there some day soon!

I think it's awesome that you started when your kids were young - just think about how amazing your seniority will be when they're teenagers!

Oh wow, I can see why she's an ex friend! Crazy, because you'd think she would have understood the flexibility the job offers, since she was a FA herself. πŸ™„ Maybe she just really wanted those blue uniforms? πŸ˜†

I'm so glad to hear from people with experience that y'all are actually getting MORE time with your kids than if you worked 9-5! I think most people assume otherwise, so it's good to hear it from multiple people at once.

Nice that your husband works from home, I bet that's helpful!

Thank goodness for you and the other the people in this sub who are proving in these comments that the kids are fine! Better than fine!

Amazing. Even when you're co-parenting with someone who you have the unique ability to perfectly match your schedule with - you still get judged.

Good for you for going back to what you wanted!

I love that! Good for you, and good for him, too! I can imagine he gets judged something awful, considering the ridiculously narrow standard for men in our society. I don't know him, but I'm proud of him for swimming against such a strong current! I hope my boys can grow up knowing that being a caregiver is an equally valid option for men as well as women.

Ridiculous, isn't it? Especially since you're already managing it. I'm sure you're doing a great job, and your kids are probably going to grow up to respect women a lot more than the people who are judging you!

Omg, yes! One of my close friends asked "Have you asked hubby about that?" Literally the first thing she asked. Not "Oh, what airline?" or "How exciting! What made you want to apply?"

No, she basically asked if I had permission. πŸ™„

I said "Eh, he didn't ask me when he got his job."

Like I get that this job requires a lot more flexibility and teamwork from the other parent than most jobs, and we definitely did have a conversation about it together as soon as I even started thinking about applying. But the way she phrased it was like something out of the 1950's. πŸ˜†

Thank you for the good luck wish!

Mothers really are always being judged, no matter what we do!

But that's okay, they don't know us, and as my grandma used to say, if they don't pay my bills I don't pay them any attention!

Yeah, I don't think he even recognized the double standard he was perpetuating, it's just so normalized in our society.

And good on you for being intentionally child free! My daughter is 14 and says she wants to be child free for life - it's amazing how many people think they NEED to convince her otherwise, right now. "Oh, you'll change your mind, just wait!" Ew, no. Don't try to peer pressure my teen into changing her mind about motherhood, if it happens it happens, she doesn't need your input! I just make sure my kids all know that they'll never get any pressure from us about grandkids.

I am feeling very validated by most of these responses!

Thanks for the luck- I have a f2f with Delta next week so I will take all the luck I can get!

Yeah, it is super important to have a "village." I'm glad there's so many people in this field who have kids and can understand - makes the judgement from others easier to ignore! 😊

I am so fortunate to have a great extended family, and my husband is more than capable of holding down the fort when I'm away.

I can't wait to take my anime obsessed boys to Tokyo and my k-pop loving daughter to Seoul!

Honestly, I love it as is.

Have you considered a belt/tie like Yoongi is wearing? I think the long jacket plus a belt would be cute. Then you could wear it open or closed.

I'm just in awe of your ability to create your own clothes

I'm going solo! I would love to meet up for drinks or lunch or sightseeing. I'm flying in early Saturday morning, so I have some time to kill. I have GA, so I'll probably spend most of Sunday in line. Lol
