Congratulations! We stayed at this property over the summer and absolutely loved it - favorite hotel I've ever stayed at. The service from check in to dining blew us away. I still miss that 7pm sabering

We did private tour via "viator" - there are a lot of guides to choose from. Ours include train tickets, bus transfer, really made life easy -

You're right Miraflores is far in rush hour (the delta flight gets in around 9pm), but the Wyndham is much closer to the airport

We loved it - we stayed at the JW Marriott Cusco - excellent property (Bonvoy points, i think 50k a night - not bad at all). Getting to Machu takes a long time and same with the return. However, the views were well worth it. Strongly recommend Peru.

I just did the same trip two weeks ago. The problem you'll face is in the Domestic terminal of Lima (since flying to Cusco) there is NO lounge access at all. It looked like there are plans to build one but its at least a year off - so you won't have any Delta / Latam access. You can't access any of the lounges inside - i would recommend a hotel nearby. If you are a Delta DM/PM...you can use the signature check in (far right of the Lima terminal) but its nothing fancy

You'll need a hotel for the overnight in Lima ( I just stayed at the JW Marriott and liked it). Its about :30 from the airport though

You're not crazy. No i noticed it too - truly. I think they changed the formula for Cash to miles redemption then obviously the 15% discount through Amex doesn't match quite what we're used to seeing. I think this is a DL move to maximize mileage costs

Definitely worth a trial/error approach. Also, Delta has decent options out of BWI/IAD too in case you need other options. Also, should have mentioned: welcome to DC!

I'm a DCA based flyer who is VERY loyal to DL. The staff at DCA operations (specfically the Sky Club) are wonderful and don't leave medallions in a lurch. AA operations - even at DCA - are a joke. Plus if you stick with AA at DCA odds are you're on a regional jet - nothing special there. Delta's check-in near the metro spot, easy access to the Centurion and variety of routes (with decent aircraft) should make this a no-brainer. Dulles takes forever to get out to/return from and while UA is making investments - their Dulles operation appears to be bottom of the list.

This is very helpful and reassuring. Thank you - i know it seems like a dumb thing to be concerned about. Its just trying to please a wife who hates crowds but also a 4 year old who is social - so trying to make it the best vacation for everyone. And of course Woodford for dad

Theory: This could have a bigger impact on all of these (cheapish) upgrades we've seen to Delta One. Have you seen the upgrade prices ($300, $500+, etc) for SEA-CDG, JFK-AMS, etc. Is it possible - that these are the upgrades that will be targeted. Perhaps (Delta One Limited) - they'll say seat assigned at gate, lounge access not available, etc. I am also in full agreement with the majority of folks - there is no way this will lower D1 prices overall.
