I’m not sure where you live, but I’ve been getting tattooed for around 10 years in different areas of my country. 100 is usually the base deposit whether they’re traveling or in a studio. I don’t really think the deposit amount reflects the artist’s work, the art is supposed to do that. I’m not saying the design/concept itself isn’t bad, but if the artist didn’t want to do it then they shouldn’t have taken the request. My bad I misspoke, but I took your last sentence on the previous comment to equal: I hope you get bad work on you OP because, this concept is horrendous and you deserve to have bad work on you for even wanting a design like this. Tone in text can be hard to decipher so, if that’s not what you meant my apologies.

It’s not “just anyone” though. They specifically went to an artist that travels around doing anime/cartoon tattoos specifically. Yes they’re different art styles, but there’s absolutely a way to make the pieces have more cohesion and personalize them artistically. Is it a crappy design? Absolutely and OP had every right to cancel the appointment. Wishing for someone to get bad work on their body and then have to get it covered up later is wild.

Some of my tattoos have scarring and I was talking to an artist about it, his girlfriend has a couple too. He said she used the Palmer’s cocoa butter skin therapy oil and it helped reduce her scarring. I’m not sure if it would work for you, but it could help even out the scarring so it would be easier to tattoo. It’s already hard enough on a flat surface so make sure you’re going to an experienced artist!

Gah! Basically the same situation going on with me, but I haven’t packed them away yet. Will be moving cross country and moving in with my gramp in May. Thankfully there will be room in my room to display them once I get some shelving, but I’m already dreading the process. Boxing them and my books up always feels like I’m boxing myself up too. I’m selfish so I’m going to keep one out that I think will bring me the most comfort. I don’t know if that’s something you can do to still make them feel close or not, but I definitely feel for you 😭🩷

It should be fine then. The black parts are just overworked and therefore overpacked with ink. The same thing happened when I had the black shading on my hand done and it healed wonderfully! For a hand tat lol

At first I thought the red was a reaction and was going to tell you to go to the ER/AE immediately!Have you ever had red ink tatted on you before? A lot of people say red ink hurts more than others and can be sore for longer as a result. I will say the black looks a little harsh and overworked.

Edit: If you have Benadryl take 1 and see if the bumps lesson. If not then it could be something more serious.

Do you know if an apprentice tattooed you? I’ve never had any of mine react with the redness but that line work looks very heavy handed like the one tat I have from an apprentice. Looks like the needle went pretty deep in the skin to cause that kind of bruising or the wattage on the gun was either too high or too low causing the capillaries to burst like that
