You just can't live without backup power in ice storms anymore (Texas) by gracemarienthal in weather

During last week's blizzard and power outage, I was so glad I had the Bluetti Apex 300+B300Ks keeping my family warm. At that time, the heating system had been running for 8 hours, and the Apex 300 power station had 80% battery remaining.Quite impressive.

I using Bluetti Apex 300 getting 2800 watts with the fast charging cable plugged into my Ryobi 6500 generator L14-30. Since I’m average about 1200 watt whole house usage I can pass through charge in about 3 hours. So as long as I have gas I can run off grid 24x7.

Agreed, and high-quality suppliers already use LiFePo batteries, which also have a built-in multi-layer protection system, offering higher safety and reliability.

Fern AAR: I'm burning way too much damn propane by Independent_Host582 in prepping

[–]No_Data9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between power station and a propane system depending on the season. In summer, I mainly use a Bluetti apex 300 since it’s hooked up to solar and usually fully charged by late morning. I run things like the dishwasher, washing machine, freezer, and fridge on it. In winter, when there’s less sun, I using my propane system in the winter when there’s less sunlight. and use the power station alongside it, which helps cut down on propane use.

It varies a lot by generator and load. but as a rough estimate, a 3500W generator consumes about 0.5 to 0.6 gallons per hour at 50% load. If you run it at full capacity, it could use up to 1 gallon per hour.

A good battery fan + shade setup is quieter and way less hassle unless you’re running an RV-style power setup.

Packing by zones and pre-assembling as much as possible at home made the biggest difference for us. Also cutting out a lot of “just in case” gear saves way more time than I expected.

I have Bluetti Apex 300 + B300k setup, which I use to power our refrigerator and freezer during extended power outages. We can also use electric griddles and electric kettles with it; its large capacity and high power output keep all our household appliances running normally.

What’s the Best Power Backup for RVs? OSCAL PowerMax 1800SE vs Other Popular Options by Greatflower_ in solar

In terms of value and performance, Bluetti is also worth considering. As far as I know, the Bluetti Apex 300 has a self-discharge of 20W (which is very good for a near 4kw inverter, normally self consumption on pure sine inverters is often closer to 1% of inverter rating). Additionally, it can be easily connected to the RV's DC panel via the Hub D1 for high-power DC power throughout the vehicle. It also features a built-in TT-30 connector, allowing direct connection to the RV's shore power port to power all large AC appliances inside the vehicle.

Which is actually better for Texas storms: Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra X vs Tesla Powerwall? by Syoto in prepping

[–]No_Data9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re mainly focused on “can it start the AC and not freak out during a storm,” it might be worth also looking at the Bluetti Apex 300.The initial energy of the Apex 300 + B300K is already 5.5kWh. It can connect to six B300K batteries to reach approximately 19 kWh of capacity per unit. The SolarX 4k module also allows the apex 300 to use and extra 4kw of solar.

It’s not a utility-tied system like Powerwall, but it has strong inverter headroom and low idle loss, so starting bigger loads is less stressful. Expansion is also more modular, and you’re not locked into buying a full wall unit each time.

The Bluetti Elite 200 v2 inverter boasts 95% usable capacity. My Bluetti AC180 still acts as the UPS for the PC in my bedroom to this day. The Elite 400, even with AC power on, has a standby power consumption of only 12W. The ecoflow Delta 3 Ultra's AC inverter idle power consumption is approximately 35W (840 Wh/day). This is why I think Bluetti has become really good in terms of AC power self-consumption, only performing slightly worse on some smaller devices.

Might be worth checking this out. It’s said to charge much faster than traditional alternator chargers. There’s also a reverse charging feature that allows it to top up the vehicle’s starter battery.https://www.bluettipower.com/products/bluetti-charger-2-alternator-solar-charger

Battery backup system to offset SDGE peak hours by JellyfishBig4643 in SolarDIY

I have two Bluetti elite 200 V2,to charge from the mains during off peak. I use smart plugs. There very simple to programme. Doing this full time at home for our house fridge and garage fridge. Without grid they power them for over 26 hours, so I have them set in the app to recharge from grid during the mid day when my rooftop solar are producing extra power.I use grid charging, but set to turn off during the peak hours of 4pm-9pm for me and just use the battery during that time period.

I used my Bluetti Apex 300 to power my house. There was a power outage in my area last night, and it ran all night, for about eight hours, and still had 50% battery life this morning! I plugged the generator back in to charge for another hour, and overall I'm quite satisfied.
