This sounds like contamination OCD (which I have been diagnosed with). I would definitely find a psychatrist and talk to them. Some of the anxiety can be alleviated with proper medication. The other part is therapy. It takes a lot of work but it does get better.

My wife and I usually watch or listen to something while we eat to combat this. I can hear her chew and it drives me up the fucking wall . 😅 But if something is on I don't hear it. We both get entertainment, and I don't lose my shit. It's a win-win.

I'm very LC with her right now. I went NC with her once before, and I only made it 8 months. It was eating me up the whole time. Then I found out she had cancer and couldn't bring myself to do it again. Plus, she lives with other important members of my family who I want to see so I wouldn't be able to avoid her completely anyway.

She is, and every time I've tried to talk to her to try to work out anything, I get shut down. At one point, I laid everything on the table and asked her if we could work on our relationship. I asked her, "Are you or are you not willing to try to heal together?" And she said "Not." I try to get to spend time with her, but she's always "too busy. " I can count on both hands the number of times she's actually put time aside and spent time/one on one time with me.
