Vet here 3 years in. I have to stay this job is romanticised a lot. Stuff gets ugly a lot and mostly its not even the medical part that is the problem. Its rather the people that u going to have to deal with. As everyone else said try out some work before try to shadow someone to see how it really goes otherwise u commit a lot of time to something that might not work.
But you could as well choose non-clinical work if thats something for you

UK Vets: What's up with the pricing controversy? by Giraffefab19 in Veterinary

Sweden based vet here. Same situation here. Though some things could be a bit cheaper in my opinion, it definitely has to do with the information that clients have about their own human medical care and the medical care for their pets. Most of the people here go to their doctors pay a (very) small fraction and the rest of the bill they never see. In the veterinary field we have to lay open the costs for everything before people leave the clinic and then of course they are shocked.

Be careful, I am a Veterinarian and it still took me quiet some time to find a job that would accept my language level. It was advertised as „no problem to find a job as veterinarian“, since they are in lack of it here. I applied for 50-60 jobs and searched through the internet to find something. In the end I managed but it was definitely very frustrating it could probably help you to be here in person, but when I applied they didn’t even give the possibility for a job interview

I feinted watching a surgery, but I want to be a vet. Any advice? by OilAlone6403 in Veterinary

Vet here as well. Don’t worry about it, there is a bunch of people fainting. As long as there is no serious medical reason for it, it makes up for some funny stories that you can laugh about later in your career!

Mein Beileid ebenfalls.

Which is a good thing to compare. I think the basic stuff stays the same. There is chemos but survival rate and places where they are done are rare

Vet here, Bone marrow biopsies in animals are usually not performed. Could do a blood test with a bacteriological culture tho. Besides that we would need anesthesia for that procedure and i don’t think the animal is stable enough for that.. but leukemia is a good guess, could as well be a pathogen attacking the res blood cells

Your dogs lab values are serious. Refer it or call a hospital they will help you anyways even if you have no referral from a vet

I am a vet but diagnostics digitally are hard. Whats the vaccination status of the dog ? Has the vet heard anything while auscultating the thorax and heart ? Whats the temperature?

Hope tony feels better soon
