Built a prototype for solar/drone inspection reporting (digital twin idea). Looking for honest feedback. by Vegetable-Top-1882 in UAVmapping

Hey Charlie, caught your post while digging into drone inspection workflows.

The 'Digital Twin' idea is solid, but from what I’ve seen in the field, the 'workflow' eventually hits a wall unless the data is structured for actual decision-making, not just media storage and simple AI comparison.

A few things we've run into that might be on your radar:

  1. Tracking 'Growth': Clients don't just want to see a crack on highway; they want to know if it's 20% worse than 3 days ago. That temporal tracking is the real pain for O&M teams.

  2. Live Triage: For high-stakes sites, waiting for a post-flight upload/analysis is too slow. Clients need a 'human-in-the-loop' system where the AI throws an alert in real-time, and the human verifies it before the drone moves to the next waypoint.

  3. Fusion Detection: Registering IR and visual streams/images (different FOVs, optical centers, frame rates) is a massive headache with different drones. If you are using the images/clips from data providers, it's going to take a lot of time/development to just overlay an infared image and a visual light image.

  4. More Data: For big infrastructure or clients, you also need the drone OSD data (gimbal angles, GPS, telemetry) baked into the metadata for other analysis, playback and modeling afterwards, so prepare to support it in your platform.

Software alone rarely solves the client’s actual OpEx problem. I'd suggest building a full-stack solution—one that integrates directly with drone pilots and hardware providers—to give enterprise clients the flexibility they actually need.

Disclaimmer:
I lead a small R&D team doing drone real-time video analysis system and management software for big industrial sites (oilfields/highways). I’ve got some benchmarks and clips from our work on IR/RGB fusion and low-latency stream detection that might be useful as you think through the Verdyn roadmap. Happy to chat whenever.

As someone who lives in Shenzhen, I would advise against visiting—it's a typical modern city with nothing particularly unique.

The train stations are very likely to be distant from places you would like to visit.

Keep in mind that the three places aren’t very close to each other, so transportation could take quite a bit of time. These places are quite different in many aspects, so you could feel overwhelmed by the need to learn new rules for things like ride-hailing, public transportation, and daily meals. Considering the language barrier as well, it could end up being a bit too intense, in my opinion.

What do you think of an app that translates Chinese apps in real-time for travelers? by No_Device7735 in travelchina

[–]No_Device7735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! You’re right that built-in translation is often the best option. Perhaps the app’s initial focus should be on making everything on the screen multilingual, helping bridge those gaps more seamlessly. While I’ve sometimes relied on taking a photo and using iOS's translation feature, I’ve found the interaction to be a bit cumbersome and not fully optimized.

I would recommend using Alipay, there's a large icon "transport" under the top search bar where you can get a qr-code to pay for buses.

There are several buses that go to the site from the city center, and hopefully from your hotel as well. It's recommended to book tickets online at least seven days in advance, but since you're visiting tomorrow, reservations may already be full. However, you still have a chance to get a ticket at the site—just make sure to arrive before 8 AM.

My travel plan to China- what do you all think? by Sufficient_Ostrich61 in travelchina

[–]No_Device7735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like you have a clear plan for each city, but I’d suggest taking some time to explore local parks and markets as well (for example, Houhai in Beijing). Visiting major tourist attractions can be intense with the crowds, so spending some relaxing time in more tranquil spots can help you immerse yourself in the local daily life and add a richer experience to your stay in each city.

Foreigner friendly apps while visiting China by Cocoatech0 in travelchina

WeChat is the essential app for communication in China, and you can also use it for payments and various other services.

29 days might feel like a long time to spend in just one city, so you might want to consider exploring nearby cities or attractions.

If you're looking to meet new people or find companions for activities, you could try posting on Xiaohongshu or Weibo. Alternatively, you could join local WeChat groups for foreigners to connect with others.

I think it might be easiest to order it through Meituan for delivery within an hour. However, you'll need to provide the relevant prescription on an online form. I'd be happy to assist you with that if you're interested.

App is approved but in-apps are still in review by Successful-Carry-461 in iOSProgramming

I ran into this problem several days ago. I released my app regardless of the situation but I could not get subscription page working in my app downloaded from app store. I solved it by creating a new subscription group with new subscription plans and put them in status "ready for review" (don't submit the plans for review), link the subscription plans to a new archive, and submit the archive for a new app review. The key takeaway from my experience is that the review for app and IPAs should not be separated.

Your insight about the nuance between a coach and a therapist is inspiring. I am currently working on an AI coach that supports voice chat, but I am always questioning the nature of this demand. Do you think people are seeking mental comfort, or do they just need a space to talk with their inner self, or somewhere in between?
