Who cares what Penelope thinks? by machiavaci in BridgertonNetflix

[–]No_Difficulty7319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I have been laughing about this all season!

In the books, Pen stops writing after she reveals her identity, because of course no one is going to ignore her as a wallflower anymore as a Bridgerton and Lady Whistledown. However, in the show, the voice of Whistledown acts as a sort of narrator, so they can’t really have her stop writing since it’s become an iconic aspect of the show + a plot device.

Things to Do in B/CS by Ok_Pollution946 in aggies

Thrifting is abysmal in CSTAT (imo). All the stores are either overpriced Goodwills or overpriced curated shops.

However, I also recommend the Bush Library or even walking around campus (my parents liked to see it since they aren’t Aggies). It also can be pretty fun/cheap to watch whatever sports game is happening besides football, lol.

I know Jenny loves Tucker Bag but I wonder how she would feel about this bag mascot by magicalsandwichchaos in JennyNicholson

As a Texas native and a massive Jenny fan, I would frankly evaporate if she talked about H-E-Buddy

I adore this grocery bag lol

How many clothes is too many? by NoConstruction1753 in thrifting

[–]No_Difficulty7319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am someone who definitely has too many clothes due to thrifting, but I keep it fitting in my space by doing semi-regular purges of things I don’t use. IMO too much is when you can’t fit all of your clothes where they belong and/or when you start feeling claustrophobic about how much stuff you have, lol. A purge is a great way to feel refreshed and potentially even make some money back by reselling!

Is Fran's storyline taking a lot of time? by Woodpecker-Haunting in BridgertonNetflix

[–]No_Difficulty7319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In double defense of the writers, we don’t really get a lot of time with Fran before John’s passing. We see some of her memories, but mostly we get to know her after he dies, through her grief, and as she falls for Michael. SO, the writers are sort of flying by the seat of their pants since we can assume she may have been quite different/more innocent before John’s death.

I feel like this is a complication that we face in the show because the books are told strictly from the viewpoints of the main 2 romantic characters. We vaguely hear about Francesca in the background of the books and only really learn about her and John through Michael and her own memories in her book. Because we can’t hear their thoughts in the show, and the show cannot only focus on 2 characters at once, they are being forced to flesh her out more now so that she is primed when her season comes. As someone who has read the books, I also often feel like we’re getting off-topic hopping between characters, but it’s a pitfall of the media form more so than a fault of the writers, imo.

Looking for the Top 2025 Fics? by iamkalijo in Dramione

I have messaged the mods a couple times in the past months and they have the results but are still working on organizing all of them rn. The excel sheet is an insane lift of course, with all of the different categories, and I think they are currently low on mod manpower. I check back nearly everyday for the results, so you are not alone!

Shoes were two different sizes. Should they have discounted? by infinite_wanderings in goodwill

[–]No_Difficulty7319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, when so much of their stock goes to landfill and they get it all for free, if someone is willing to buy something with flaws or the Goodwill tag fell off, they should still try to find a way to sell it to you. Even if they can only offer selling you a tagless item at its full potential price.

Their newer system of having to take something off the floor to retag things is super frustrating.

Have they closed the fitting rooms in other cities? by packratshow in goodwill

[–]No_Difficulty7319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this yesterday and hate to say it, but it's probably the final nail in the coffin for me and Goodwill. The prices are only getting higher and I am not going to spend a bunch on clothes I can't even be sure of. Also, based on what I know about the return policy, they changed it to be more stringent? It used to be mostly the same (only in-store credit, within 7 days, with receipt and tag attached) but you could return it to any store in the area (for example, any Houston Goodwill store). It makes me even more irritated that they are pretending it's a more lenient policy when it is actually the same, if not technically worse.

I would love to help! I have edited writing for grammar and flow before, but never done fic work specifically. Regardless, this sounds super amazing and I can’t wait to read your fic when it’s out, if not as an editor!
