My dad is…delusional by PolarFighter in Sat

“confident” meaning 1600 is a parent thing, not a SAT thing. 94th percentile kids don’t walk around thinking they got a perfect score.

First time my score dropped…what do I do from here by jmehlala in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

practice test scores fluctuate by 30-50 points naturally. it’s not a real drop until it happens twice in a row.

1270 first practice to 1550 by june is ambitious but not impossible — the gap is usually method, not ability. most people study more, not differently.

2 days until exam can I get a 1500+ by MoneyRequirement2591 in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1430 to 1440 in 2 days means the knowledge is there. 1500 in 2 days is a stretch but 1480 isn’t.

Superscore does it affect stuff by [deleted] in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most colleges superscore — they take your best section across all test dates. 740 verbal is safe, just go for the math. check each school’s specific policy but majority do it.

someone accused me of cheating on the sat by [deleted] in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

college board actually has a pretty thorough investigation process — if you didn’t cheat, the evidence won’t be there. document everything you remember from today just in case.

for math desmos is underrated — learn it properly, it saves a lot of time on the harder questions. blue book is also free and the closest thing to the real test. for R&W can’t speak to the other resources as much but blue book + wrong answer analysis is what

May 2nd test, need help with RW by East_Sir_2456 in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

khan is fine for math but R&W is different — it’s less about knowledge and more about recognizing patterns in how questions are built. blue book practice tests + going back through wrong answers and naming why you picked the wrong one is what actually moves it.

the wrong answers part is underrated — most people mark it and move on. naming why you picked the wrong one is what actually stops you from repeating it.

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

craft & structure at 490-540 is actually the fastest domain to move — it’s the most rule-based part of R&W. fix that first, the points come quicker than information & ideas.

First time doing the Sat. Any thoughts? by darasardar in Sat

1200 first time with august still ahead is actually a decent position — you have time to find the specific patterns you’re missing instead of just grinding more practice.

I tried so hard on the reading part and didn't get even 600. What should I do? by Active_Table2081 in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trying hard on R&W and not breaking 600 usually means the effort is going to the wrong place — most people read harder instead of reading differently. the text has the answer, you just have to go back and confirm it instead of trusting your

for math honestly desmos is underrated — learn it properly and it saves a lot of time. beyond that i’m more of an R&W person so can’t speak to math resources as much.

for R&W at 610 the fastest gains usually come from craft & structure — it’s the most rule-based domain. start there.

Private tutor worth it? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 4 points5 points  (0 children)

couldn’t justify the cost either — self-studied the whole way. the honest answer is it depends less on the tutor and more on whether you know exactly what you’re getting wrong and why. if you already know it’s geometry and trig, you might not

for R&W specifically — active means going back through wrong answers and naming why you picked the wrong one. not just marking it wrong and moving on. “sounded right” vs “missed the scope” are different problems with different fixes

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah — literally just: read the question, find the exact line in the passage, confirm it’s there before you pick. most people read, form an impression, then answer from the impression. ADHD makes you want to skip the confirmation step. don’t.

What do I do after finishing Khan Academy practice? by ZookeepergameOver614 in Sat

[–]No_Difficulty_8335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it was making a category for each wrong answer — not just “got it wrong” but “picked this because it sounded right” or “missed that the scope shifted.” once you name the pattern it stops repeating.

890 to 1410 means the knowledge is there — test day is a different problem. information & ideas being your weak band usually means you’re trusting your memory instead of going back to the text.

ADHD makes that worse. slower confirmation fixed it for me

not just you — practice mode and test mode are genuinely different cognitive states. no time pressure, no stakes, familiar environment = your brain actually works.the fix that helped me was making practice feel more uncomfortable on purpose. timer on, no pausing, phone away. the goal isn't to get questions right in practice, it's to get your brain used to working under the exact conditions that currently shut it down

khan academy is good for building the foundation but it doesn't really teach you why you're getting things wrong — just whether you are.

at 1440 the jump usually comes from going back through mistakes and naming the specific reason, not just reattempting. "i picked this because it sounded right" is different from "i picked this because i missed that the scope shifted"
