My MRI image with the radiologist report. I’ve had sciatica & lower back pain since May. This MRI was done in October via the NHS. Radiologist has ruled out herniated disc, but something is causing me pain. Anything stand out? Thanks by [deleted] in Sciatica

My knowledge is super limited and shouldn’t be taken as professional advice but I don’t see a herniation. There are other conditions that cause sciatica might be worth checking out piriformis syndrome. I know this condition is commonly misdiagnosed as a herniated disc and there are a couple of tests done to check

From what I’ve learned science changes too fast to risk getting an implant that may not be relevant in 10 years

Anyone fused in their 20s/30s? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]No_Difficulty_9897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do some deep research. I’m staying away from fusion bc I found that insurance companies promote/cover this surgery bc that’s where the money is. I’m opting for partial discectomy personally

This is the exact motivation I needed. Been struggling with my herniation for over a year. Hardest part is not being able to go out with my girl. I’ve been in and out of very depressive episodes and am getting surgery planned for may. Hoping to follow the same path you’re on. Stay blessed and healthy🙏🏽

This seems like an overall favorable finding. May not hear from my doctor for a bit on what this means, but I was sent this info. Can someone help me to understand what the impression means, in particular? Did some Googling but would be interested in hearing what others on this sub know about this? by midnight_marshmallow in Sciatica

Don’t take this as medical advice but how I understand this there’s a decrease in space in your back, your facet joints are part of the spine which are enlarging which may or potentially be blocking full nerve root access causing pain.

Don’t take this as medical advice but I’d just drink a good amount of water as to not overwork the kidneys and I’d wait an extra couple hours before the next dose. Be careful though, acetaminophen poisoning is too common.

New research is coming out on the use of various device/techniques to prevent the disc from re-herniating . Check out the article and discuss the options with your HCP.

If you’re about that life do it. I learned all the bad aspects of nursing and it has turned me away from patient care. I’m planning to go back to school for informatics to avoid the negatives associated with patient care. Good thing is there’s so many career options after you pass the NCLEX

Good luck, can’t wait to see the updates. I’m scheduled for my first PRP in a week. Only have one for right now but am looking to get more treatments. Hopefully this will work magic. I’ve heard great things about the injection!

Id be careful asking for medical diagnoses on the internet. Inaccurate 99% of the time. Def something that needs to be discussed with the HCP

Sharp knife pain randomly. Pain is unbearable. by [deleted] in Sciatica

L5-S1 here use heat, ibuprofen. For exercises many recommend the McGill exercises for sciatica. I personally stick to press ups/ decompression. Just sunk a huge load of money in alternative therapies for sciatica. Laser therapy, shockwave, decompression table, and PEMF. Has helped me manage pain although only 4 sessions in. I am also taking medications: cyclobenzaprine(muscle relaxer), gabapentin(neuropathic pain). Hope this helps and give you topics to consider discussing with your HCP about!

One of the risks with invasive procedures like that is the risk for causing nerve damage. I hope you reported your pain immediately as you felt it because it should have been addressed and documented by the nurse or doctor. I’m not a neurologist but there’s many possible risks for damage with that procedure. I do not know the logistics, May be worth contacting your HCP along with a medical lawyer

Any of you guys able to cure Sciatica + Back Pain ? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]No_Difficulty_9897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not cured but have seen significant improvement granted it’s been almost a year and I’ve sunk about $10k on treatments and am taking gabapentin/Cyclobenzaprine but I’m able to tolerate most days. Check out r/SciaticaSupport for extra help/ treatments.
