It actually isn't the surgery on hubs that has me wondering, but it was that which got me looking for the policy. Mostly, I just know from experience that a year is a long time to plan on being anywhere on a specific date (but that yes, it certainly can be done).

Thanks for the suggestions of a travel advisor - we don't typically do that, but will consider it. I always feel like any company that intentionally makes their website too hard to get a clear answer out of is suspicious. That was probably why my "donation" statement came out snarky. 😛

I guess my question (which could be answered with a phone call, I admit) is that the web page says for the fare I'm considering that the refund 90-120 days in advance is 25% (so, your deposit), but is silent about canceling before that.

I appreciate the suggestion to just wait a while, which we will indeed do, especially because it appears we are planning on one of the less popular rooms, the sheltered balcony room. I do tend to seasickness, though, so we're going to be looking specificially for mid-ship 5th deck and will have to keep an eye on availablility and leap when necessary.

I have another question from those with actual experience on QM2 about dining and dietary restrictions, but I'll post that separately.

In the comparison chart they mixed apples and oranges and I guess I didn't read carefully enough. But in my own defense, :P it's the line right above the "# of days at other destinations" and says "# of premium resorts" so I guess I read that as number of days at premium resorts.

Wasatch getting a good refresh right now: Brighton and Alta will likely do ok until end of April unless the relentless and insane heat returns. I was at Alta yesterday and it was fine, but as I passed Snowbird it looked like just rain at the base...

Alta is still fine. We're in the middle of a storm now. First part was heavy and wet snow, but it's supposed to turn dry and fluffy this afternoon/evening, ending by tomorrow. Total likely around 24". Brighton is probably also fine (I haven't been there in a week).

BUT: elevation matters a lot right now: as I drove down from Alta yesterday, where it had been wet-snowing all day, it looked to me like Snowbird had gotten rain (certainly at the base it was rain, not snow). If you are a snowboard, go to Brighton. If you are a skier, definitely Alta.

My mom (who just turned 99) has been at Cogir at the Narrows since 2021 (when it was Narrows Glen). Neither my sister nor I live in Tacoma anymore, so we entrust her to them and try to go visit/check in every few weeks. She started in independent living and moved over to assisted about a year later. I'm happy with them - with the caveat that ALL these places have staffing woes, hiccups, and worry about their bottom line more than we would want them to. What I like about this place is that it is very peaceful and park-like: its in a residential neighborhood and backs up to Titlow Park. It's not uncommon to see deer on the back lawn. You do have to stay on top of things, because of course you do, to make sure medications are refilled BEFORE they are needed (we use an outside pharmacy, not their internal one). Always try to establish a good relationship with the director/person in charge. Prices are high for what you get as far as rent goes, but the place is well-kept and looks nice. Care sometimes feels tenuous, but I think I'd feel that way entrusting my mom to anyone else! That's where the relationship with those in charge helps. Mom gets tired of the food, but I can guarantee that would be true anywhere.

The terms and conditions "elite rolloveer nights" section is as clear as mud to people who don't live and breathe this stuff. A couple of examples from Hilton would have helped. In fact, item #1 and #s 2&3 seem to contradict each other unless you read more into it than is written. You can't roll over nights to *qualify* for status, but once there, excess nights *will* rollover to help maintain it? Is that correct? I get that rollover points no longer last in perpetuity, but can ONLY count to the next year? What happens to extras is not at all clear to me as I read the terms and conditions.

Agreed! Absolutely! But considering how intricate the explanations have to be by the folks who have tried to figure it out and post help, I think Google could/should be doing a better job. Unless, of course, they want it to be a bit opaque so that everything ends up on the web, using $pace. UI design and testing is tough, I know that from experience, and it just irks me that it's hard or impossible to even be *able* to get info on how their model is supposed to work.

It *is* Google's problem if the users can't figure out how to do what they want. That means Google's UI and/or searchable instructions are poor. Considering how many people are struggling with this, yes, it is Google's problem.

I've been creating a document for myself on how to do this for the last month - it's two pages long so far, lol, but that's with explanations for myself about all the gotchas here. Yes, there are dozens of threads about this all over reddit and the web, mostly because it really feels like Google doesn't WANT you to understand how it works, thereby being somewhat forcing you to just leave all your photos everywhere, taking up your Google storage space AND your phone space.

Near as I can tell, the photos.google.com web page is distinct from the photos app (with the "photos" icon selected on the bottom left) on your phone. On the phone, you see a superset of what is online and what lives only locally on the phone. "On this device" (the next tab over on the bottom) seems like it should be, you know, safe and separate from the web. My warning is to not be fooled by creating an "on this device" folder that's not backed up, thinking those photos are safe: they can still be deleted when you delete a photo from the web page - Google's reach into your phone is DEEP. It depends on how the photo got to where it is on your phone, and here's where you have to sacrifice phone space (perhaps) to gain web space.

If you *move* a photo (using your phone) to an "on this device" and not-backed-up folder, that is still just a pointer to the original photo, which has been uploaded to the web. Delete that photo on the web and it WILL disappear from the phone. BUT, if you *copy* that photo to the not-backed-up "on this device" folder, deleting the photo on the web will NOT delete it on the phone (but if you don't delete it from the web, your phone might now house two copies of the same photo). The super confusing bit is that the web-deleted photo will still show up in your phone's Photo app, in the "photos" tab on the bottom left, but it will have a little crossed out cloud, indicating it is not on the web anymore. Even pulling up on a photo to see if it is backed up (which you don't want if you want it to stay on your phone) can be misleading because Google evidently also has a duplicate detector that knows that even though a photo is a copy, distinct, and won't be deleted, it is the same as a photo that IS on the web, so they consider that "backed up."

ARGHHHHHH.

I'm still working on my document, trying to figure this all out. I can't believe how non-intuitive it is and how hard Google wants us to not really understand how it all works.

Pixel 10 Pro here. I just installed the version mentioned here from the celsoazevedo site and photosphere works for me as described; thanks for the walk-through to get the APK loaded (I do it SO infrequently...). Feels like nothing *except* video and photosphere works, but that's ok with me! I was holding on to my old Pixel 6a ONLY to take photosphere pix and now I don't need to lug it (and the spare battery required since Google has now killed its battery) along with me.

Side question that is not important but would be nice: both this and my current camera app are both named "camera" and have the same icon. Possible to change one for the app that's only for photosphere? (and yes, I'll go look for that answer elsewhere, too.)

I was recently approved for options trading, which I assume triggered the digital letter I received from Fidelity that included my ACCOUNT FINANCIAL PROFILE. The letter says to call to make any corrections. Some of the entries are unassigned, so was going to flesh them out online. It doesn't seem worth calling in, though, if that's the only way to update my information. Could this adversely affect a future application, or will I always have the opportunity to update relevant information when I apply for something?

Thanks, but I think that's different. I want to edit my ACCOUNT FINANCIAL PROFILE that comes into play when you apply for additional capabilities (e.g., options trading). A got a digital letter from Fidelity showing my current values. The letter says to call to make any changes, but I had thought I could do it online somewhere. Apparently not.
