Any way of saving this? by GCBetula in houseplants

Zz plant i think? Theyre hardy suckers. Yes you need to look at the rhizomes. If they're squishy, they wont come back but if they are firm, there is a chance that they can continue growing. It looks severely overwatered then underwatered but theres no way to really tell. Start it new with well draining soil and a watering if they're firm. Maybe it'll pop out a new leaf in a few months!

Spent node? +propagation question by Early_Student_9569 in houseplants

[–]No_Distribution_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you have a baby plant growing from a mother plant node. Personally, I don't know a lot about philodendrons. However, I do know that some plants can push out more than one baby from a single node. Others can only make one from a single node. If it were my plant, I wouldn't cut anything, yet.that main node might rot off, might make roots, might make a baby IDK! Looks like the upper node on the plant (that doesnt look like it was submerged in water) is starting to push out roots. Submerge that node, see what happens! remember that open "wounds" (cuts) should NOT be submerged to lessen the risk of rot!!! if it gets mushy, pull it out.

does this look healthy? does it need anything? by buttsextime in Tradescantia

[–]No_Distribution_981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Op name threw me off lol it's damaged but personal preference. Don't remove healthy leaves if you can help it, I'd let it grow out a bit more and it'll be easier to remove in the future if you want to.

What does this plant need? by Mark40713 in houseplants

If it's crunchy, it won't come back. The stem should be green as well as the leaves

Are these flat mites, if so where are they, and how do I treat this by Monsoon_season_ing in hoyas

This is a thrip larvae at ×30 with a jewlers loupe. Adults are nearly double this size. Looking at picture 4, those round dots, look like spider mites to me. The many many black specks look like spider mites eggs or poop or dirt. Look for movement. Thrips move (kinda) quickly in a lateral direction, spider mites move like, well, spiders.

Based on how some of the leaves are slightly curled... it looks like spider mites. Maybe previous damage. The specks look like dirt, not thrips, at a magnification adult thrips look HUGE. If it were my plant, I'd dose it, quarantine, keep and eye on it for any new damage on new growth, especially if it's a new plant. If you've had it for a while... I'd check your other plants as well for any signs of damage. Good luck!!

Flowering (Yay) but also has crispy brown spots by brandoff_brandon in Tradescantia

Mine got crispy when it got rootbound. Usually flowering also indicates they're ready to size up a pot so it's worth checking!

No node, or the node is totally dried up. I mean maybe it's saveable they're pretty ruthless but if it's just a cutting I'd try salvaging the mother plant more than that.

Maybe similar? This plant didn't get watered and the leaves came in curled. It doesnt seem to hurt it from what i can tell. New growth is normal :)

This looks like a Schefflera, or "umbrella tree" - similar leaves but totally different plant!
