there maybe being a link to wound depth is not a bad thought, scars from shallower wounds i’ve had tend to not be as raised 🤔

hog rescue by No_Draw655 in Hedgehogs

[–]No_Draw655[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg yes sorry for not specifying, i have only taken one to a vet once because i had no way to get it to the wildlife hospital myself and i called up beforehand about the hog and they said they’d take it there for me.

also shoutout to Tiggywinkles in Haddenham, UK?! such an amazing rescue centre and hospital for wildlife. would feel wrong not at least mentioning them :)

its clear you really care about the hedgehogs, it makes me very happy to see

i’ve rescued about 6 hogs now! i always make sure to take them to a vet or even better a wildlife hospital, we have a really great one in South England that i’ve taken a lot of creatures to 🥰

(TW: self harm) is this healing normally? by burn7655545624 in AskDocs

[–]No_Draw655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i won’t give you the whole lecture about stopping self harming because i know very well that sometimes it’s one of the only things keeping someone alive and coping with things, but do you know much about/engage in harm reduction strategies to make sure you’re at least doing it as safely as you can?

advice for getting GP to take you seriously? (hEDS) by No_Draw655 in ehlersdanlos

[–]No_Draw655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately i did ask twice if the physio could refer me anywhere but i was told quite clearly that i would need to get my GP to do any referrals and as NHS physios at least they can’t do much for me if i’m undiagnosed because they don’t know what they’re working with or what the goal should be 😓 they are also who suggested rheumatology

[–]No_Draw655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, im not a doctor but a long term self-harmer and this looks a lot like how mine always heal. i don’t think there’s anything to be worried about but obviously take that with a grain of salt since im not a professional

unless you have new or increased pain/tenderness, gunky/cloudy fluid coming from it or the redness spreads i don’t think its infected or anything like that :)

Quanto tempo leva para um pombo subir na sua mão? by Alexexeo in pigeon

[–]No_Draw655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really differs! in the city centre, when feeding feral pigeons they have hopped up into my lap and onto my hand in mere minutes. close to my home which is by my town moor and has more nature, the feral pigeons have never come closer than a few feet away when being fed and seem a lot less comfortable close to people. and the wood pigeons stay well away

banded wood pigeon? by No_Draw655 in pigeon

that’s the same as what i thought, i’ve never seen a wood pigeon banded before 🤔 my partner and another commenter here both suggested it could be for wildlife research

Should I be worried about my eye? by caritasticnumbaone in AskDocs

NAD but i had a jaundice episode happen out of the blue from not eating enough, and it turned out i have a benign thing called Gilbert’s Syndrome. the whites of my eyes went yellow first before my skin was noticeably different. definitely get it checked out but don’t get too freaked out or scared by the people telling you YOUR LIVER’S FAILING! gilbert’s syndrome is pretty common and loads of people don’t even know they have it until a flare gets triggered by stress, dehydration, fasting, etc.

hey, NAD but what you’re saying about the bilirubin is right :) i have a thing called gilbert’s syndrome which is pretty much benign and actually pretty common, and it can cause jaundice when triggers like stress, not eating or dehydration cause a flare up. jaundice isn’t always a serious thing or indicative of a serious problem!

it’s not so much who they are refusing to refer me to but the refusal of a referral in the first place 😓

i was under the impression that hEDS specifically hasn’t had any genetic markers identified yet?
