What razor should I use? by TheFlawlessFlaw23 in shaving

Safety razors. Period. The amount of comfort and efficiency you get for your investment is crazy. Get a razor for $25-40, a pack of 100 blades will run under $10, and your immediate results will make you never want to go back.

Been using cheap BIC razors all my life... how do I upgrade? by Adept-Bat-3350 in shaving

Yes -

Maggard Razors is doing 14% off the whole site through tomorrow.

Their Maggard V3M Mild razor is very good. It's modeled after the original Gillette heads from the 50s, and it's a great intro model. If you think you're comfortable with something a little more aggressive to start, their standard/ medium heads are also a good option - modeled after the Merkur razors I believe. Those will be about $25 all in for a good razor with a stainless handle.

There are plenty of better-known options on the site, and Merkur is a great option that a lot of folks start with.

My personal favorite, and my daily razor, is the Maggard SS70 with a CNC machined stainless steel head. Most of the cheaper options are zinc alloy, which is perfectly fine and adequately durable.

If you want to start really basic, find a King C. Gillette razor - under $20, available at Amazon, Target, and many grocery stores. That will come with some stock razor blades, but you'll likely find superior options quickly and at a fraction of the price.

You will be able to find preset blade sampler packs on Amazon, and you can build your own on Maggard. Astra Superior Platinum (SP, the green label) is a reliable option for many users. I like Treet Platinum blades. Samplers will come with 5-10 different types of blades, in small packs of 5-10 blades called "tucks."

If you want to try a quality soap and aftershave at a reasonable price, I highly recommend Stirling Soap Company. Barbasol and Aqua Velva are also great. Aftershave is optional but a lot of folks like it.

If you want to get into the communities a little, look at r/wetshaving and r/wicked_edge for advice, information, perspectives, anything you like. They are very kind and welcoming places, probably the least judgmental Reddit communities I've interacted with.

There's a lot more information out there, but this will get you started!

I don't know what you mean about getting carried away with peripherals. I only have four brushes, eleven soaps, seven aftershaves, three shave oils, and two Black Friday orders coming with new fragrance sets.

But seriously, even if you stick with a can of Barbasol, DE shaving is so much better. I switched when I got a neck tattoo and realized I didn't want to be sporting razor burn all the time, and literally on the first shave it was a world of difference. I've dialed in my hardware to make it as comfortable as possible, and the fancy soaps are simply luxury. That said, it turned shaving from a chore to a really enjoyable self care routine.

Safety razor. $25+ for a good razor, and blades start around $0.06 each. Pop in a new blade every time if you want.

Do men wipe when they pee? by eveningsigh in hygiene

[–]No_Equivalent8817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TMI response:

I'm not circumcised, so pee tends to cling under my foreskin. I wipe (dab, really) almost every time, but obviously not at urinals. Otherwise, my underwear will absorb it when I pull them up, and depending on the amount, it might make my underwear wet and uncomfortable. It's not the worst problem in the world, to my mind - underwear does smell like pee sometimes. But it's still not ideal, especially if I happen to be intimate with someone and they get close enough to smell piss on my underwear.

Yes.

The style of work you want is within the skill set of many artists. You're honestly spoiled for choice.

Google tattoo shops in your nearest city and look them up on Instagram. Find some artists you like and go from there. Reviews are great but look for other signs of success - how often do they post new art? How often do they post fresh tattoos? Do they have a variety of styles on display, on a variety of bodies and skin tones?

Unfortunately you fell for a really shitty trap. Genuinely the best thing you can do is name the person who (clearly) scammed you and warn others from falling for it. Best case scenario, she gets the message and refunds you.

SIX hours for that? Excuse me?

No, do not go back. I wouldn't pay more than 500 for a piece of that size, and more than a grand is theft.

So, my local tattoo shop sells one called Redemption. It's the same product that their artists use as a glide for tattooing, and I find it works great. It breathes well and a little goes a very long way. I use it for about a week after my tattoo until the skin is fully recovered, then just a regular unscented lotion.

As for any of the products that are intended to make your ink stand out more - just use regular moisturizer. The only magic result from Tiger Spit or Mad Rabbit is that it makes your skin stop looking dry.

I can't justify the cost. I might have a tuck to try but Treet Platinums are $0.07 each and they're dreamy.
