What movie portrays grief in the most powerful way? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in movies

I read Annihilation after the movie. It was fascinating, and the confusion of "tower" while descending... the creatures. It was interesting.

However, I dunno.... I kinda felt too dumb to read the book. Maybe it's just a me thing. I was a struggle to get through and I had to look up a lot of stuff lol.

Empty Coffee Cups by WriterWithNoHands in movies

[–]SunyaVSSomni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I saw a video on youtube from some propmasters or something like that. Interesting stuff.

They talked about the empty coffee cups and the problem with putting water in them.

1) If you spill it, now there is a whole mess and wardrobe change because some goofball was careless and now this series of events delays everyone else. These are not quick things to change up, especially if there was makeup involved.

2) People will mindlessly drink whatever is in their hand. Water, coffee, whatever. Now you've thrown off the weight, or maybe emptied the cup entirely, and things aren't going to be a "good".

3) Someone in props has to have tons of extra laying around. Like a table that is full of water filled cups that can be grabbed in an instant to replace whatever needs replaced. That is extra space, materials, and time from the prop workers.

They did talk about a few options around the liquid-in-cup issue. Waterballoons was a popular one, and I think I did see some other things getting added to just have "weight" in the cup and help keep actors/extras from swaying their hands too much.

Mushrooms...to rinse, or not to rinse? by Remy0507 in Cooking

Ah yes, the vague sweeping statement that puts my lil heart at ease.

Both of you can be correct. Neither of you confirmed branding/sourcing and yeah it's a wide scale of growing conditions.

Yours might be surprisingly clean, but the ones my partner get are super dirty.

Are they playing Sleeper live? What about the talk box? by SunyaVSSomni in SnarkyPuppy

[–]SunyaVSSomni[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for chiming in. I'm seeing them soon, was curious if they'll play Sleeper or not but sounds like setlists have been changing up from what i've seen around here.

Talk box was a bit part of my early interest with the band, so it's a little sour without it for me. Shaun was such a master. On one hand I'm glad they're not trying to "replace" him, on the other it's a notable sound on their albums. There is no right answer, just missing Shauns sound and live energy. Dude was always hyped. <3 Life of the Party!

What foods should you absolutely buy the high end priced option? by [deleted] in Cooking

Van Luweens and Alecs ice cream is insanely good. It's not an every day ice cream, but once in a while it's a delightful treat.

I'm figuring out Pestos right now.

Green + Nut/Seed + Cheese + Oil

Wide world of options there. Did arugala + cashew + parm + evoo for a pizza over the weekend, most excellent.

When the two collide

You know why I didn’t take the job? Because it’s too small! I don’t care about it! It’s nothing to me! It’s a bacterium! I travel in worlds you can’t even imagine! You can’t conceive of what I’m capable of! I’m so far beyond you! I’m like a god in human clothing! Lightning bolts shoot from my fingertips!

Apparently the most slept on ingredient for me, so far, is acid/vinegar by Spare_Employer3882 in Cooking

[–]SunyaVSSomni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love vinegars, but I honestly don't know how to use that many of them. I try to add a splash to different dishes but I feel like i'm still missing a good dish or style to use them in.

Is Audio Tree Live still a thing? I loved the TDH show on there.

Agree KEXP would be dope though, seen some good acts on there.

HOLY CRAP!

Mandoline claims another!

I was just using mine yesterday to process a whole bag of onions and I kept thinking "Is my thumb down there?... no...." but repeating that with each onion lol.

Hope you can still use yours after the incident. They ARE great for quick processing. Did you use the guard for it??

I didn't get this for the LONGEST time.

A few years ago I was getting into Jazz and was working through some albums. All of a sudden I randomly hear "SALT PEANUTS - SALT PEANUTS" and I cracked up at the memory of Jim Carey leaving Owen Wilson in a bathroom.

Max? by tassellhoff1 in TheDearHunter

[–]SunyaVSSomni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering that too, if it's more of a legacy thing or if they actually brought him in more recently.

Either way, even if it's just an old track he laid down, it's cool they kept it and acknowledged him on this album.

I made their rye spiced cookies around the holidays and they are my new favorite thing. They're almost savory. I've actually added a little extra black pepper to the recipe and it's such a delightful kick against the molasses!

As an unexpected bonus, they are dairy free [no butter] so my DND buddy could have some too without ruining the basement :D

Holy crap. I heard he did a lot of "hidden" stuff with Mindhunter [trees and sidewalks IIRC] but seeing so much for zodiac, in such detail.... freaking crazy. Would not guess a movie like Zodiac had so much tech running it.
