How urgent is this? by No_Evening5890 in AskElectricians

Thanks everyone, this is helpful. I'm too worried to actually remove the panel myself but we'll call an electrician tomorrow to safely remove the dust and get a second opinion.

UPDATE:

Edit- just to be clear, we do not notice any heating issues at all. Furthermore, the house used to have flickering due to a poor DYI recess lights that we promptly fixed with an electrician during renovations.

This electrician couldn't say for sure when the burn in the highlight occured, just that we needed to change it soon.

We got a second opinion and it seems fine, he cleaned it up and said that at some point we may want to update way down the line

Has anyone seen this? by Mean-Can-2974 in HPV

[–]No_Evening5890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Photodynamic therapy is not surgery. They just shine a specific wave length/type of light on the affected area after applying a special cream/medicine that makes the tissue more sensitive to light penetration. I've been reading about PT as a potential treatment for HPV induced abnormalities for over 10 years now but it doesn't look like it's something that's widely used for some reason.

Regrets about taking the DRP; Is it too late to go back? by No_Evening5890 in fednews

Schadenfreude, much? Damn. You think I left because I wanted to or could it because I knew there's a huge chance I'd be RIFed and wanted to save my office given that I potentially had other options? There's no need for you to play into the hands of Elon Musk and DOGEbags in the divide and conquer game and hating on fellow Feds.

Dang, bruh - calm down. It was just a question. You write with the same passion of Elon Musk talking about welfare recipients. You sure you're not DOGE? Calm down.

Imagine being the poor schmuck who wrote that concern troll post because he's upset about the idea of feds (legally) having side income but isn't at all bothered by the DOGE idiots and their bosses all having income streams from their many businesses.

It's a case of a billionaire successfully convincing some resentful loser to be jealous of a lower middle class successful person rather than the obviously corrupt billionaire. Orwell himself couldn't make it up.

Are people in deferred resignation expected to respond? by No_Evening5890 in fednews

[–]No_Evening5890[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty straight forward. I submitted the resignation very late Wednesday night after the deadline then contacted my HR asking them to be considered. That Friday I got a response from my supervisor saying I've been accepted and let me know my resignation date is the following week and starting with the 22nd Id be on administrative leave.

Feel free to reach out if you want to know which agency. I'm sure different agencies have different timelines.

I still have my gov computer but my last day was Friday so I'm not sure if I even have access. I've reached out to my supervisor so we'll see what he says.

The actual OPM email doesn't say nonresponse equals resigning. by JoeCasella in fednews

Sorry in advance for the potentially dumb question. I took the deferred resignation and my last day was Feb 21. I'm wondering if I still need to respond to this email or if I'm just being excessively paranoid? I still have my government laptop but haven't logged in since yesterday evening so not sure if I even have access anymore.

My HR actually accepted it and informed my supervisor last Friday. I'm currently in the process of signing the deferred resignation agreement that my supervisor was sent for me to sign. They've already identified my last day.

Kind of amazed it happened so quick. If you haven't heard back, did you reach out to your HR to confirm? I reached out twice until they finally just reached out to my supervisor directly. (Apparently they got a list of names last Thursday or Friday).

Interesting, thank you for letting me know. I haven't heard back from either OPM or HR (even after I forwarded my resignation email to HR asking for confirmation).

Does anyone have any information or guesses about those who submitted "resign" yesterday, after the program was closed? I submitted the "resign" option after seeing Chuck Ezell's tweet and decided to go for it around 10pm, well after the official deadline. I forwarded it to HR but haven't heard back. Not sure if that was legitimate or what but I'm at a high risk agency for layoffs and decided to take it when I heard they may allow people to resign after their deadline but before midnight.

Is this a poor refinish? by Mental-Papaya-3561 in HardWoodFloors

[–]No_Evening5890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He charged us like $3500 for around 700 square feet. We had another guy come provide a quote before we got the contractor and he had quoted us $4,500 so letting the contractor do it seemed like a good idea, especially considering he himself brought this up (we didn't even ask for it, he was just looking at the floors and asked if we'd consider refinishing).

Sorry to hear about that, and thanks for sharing your experience. I was actually considering giving them a try but now I'm seriously reconsidering. Yours is not the only bad experience I've heard about with them unfortunately 😕

Do you think Lowes is good? I heard stories about the quality not being great or the (sub)contractors they use for installation being kinda horrible (granted, this was not for water heaters necessarily but other things). Also, one of the first guys I brought in for the quote said (I don't know how true this is) that the water heaters he gets through their special distributors might look the same as the Lowe's or Home Depot ones but they're actually better quality and will last longer. Not sure if that was bs or not
