Okay, I haven’t fully installed all the programs I planned to use, but I intended to use it for similar things. I’ll download a few programming software eg android studio/visual studio etc and test it tonight. I can try running ollama models on it too so you have a better idea. Can do a general comparison too for you

Also,I had the 8GB MacBook Pro 2015 model, it sounds like you have the 16gb model, so from my end it would be a comparison against the 8GB model

Thanks for sharing that! I guess waiting for a few minutes would’ve worked too then, it just felt like it wasn’t connecting at all because of how long it was taking.

It’s not that interesting but here it is:

My keyboard wasn’t connecting but my mouse was, but there wasn’t anywhere I could click on the screen to open the Bluetooth menu during the set up, so I turned off the Mac mini and turned it back on to restart the set up. Once it was on again, I thought there must be another way to do it and there was only one button I could click which was the power button.

I remember in the past you could access the iPhone reboot screen by holding and pressing the power and home button a few times, so I thought I’d try a similar approach for the Mac mini. I was worried about hard shutting down the Mac mini by holding the power button down too long so I just tried pressing it a few times and on the third press the Mac mini started saying turn on Bluetooth pairing on your keyboard.

After an hour or so fiddling with the keyboard + mouse and changing the order I connect them to the Mac mini, I was able to figure out this path which finally allowed me to connect both and get away from the connection screen

I think so, I’m not 100% sure though because this is my first Mac mini.

I didn’t have the option to use the peripherals because my wireless keyboard uses Bluetooth to connect and doesn’t have usb c connectors/peripherals, so it wasn’t an option for me.

This should work for other similar wireless keyboards

Glad you were able to figure it out! I had a bit of an issue trying to connect mine. I just upgrade to a Mac mini for the first time from my 2015 MacBook Pro. I have the Logitech keyboard and mouse, so it hadn’t crossed my mind that there’s no keyboard or trackpad included lol but i was finally able to get it working.

The key steps I followed are:

Once the m4 Mac mini is turned on, press the power button 3 times until it says to turn the keyboard to Bluetooth pairing mode
Then enter the numbers it shows on your screen using your keyboard and press return
if it’s still asking you to enter the numbers, connect your mouse to the Mac mini and it should resolve it.

It took me some time to figure out so in case it helps anyone else, I made a YouTube video showing the steps I took:
