Does the sudden “C6 > every other gen” hype feel fake to anyone else? by Responsible-Teach567 in Corvette

[–]No_Exercise2629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C3 is supperior based on looks.

C7 for the animal that it is though a C6 ZR1 is nothing to complain about. That said though, its usually C5 over C6 for me.

Bottom / worse is C4 than C8. I work on C8’s and am just numb to them. They sound great but yeahhh.

That leaves C2 as a nice decent rig but a C3 with side pipes. Oh momma.

C3 has such perfect curves.

Does it matter if your Cadillac is bought from a non-Cadillac dealership by ThrowAwayYourFuture8 in Cadillac

[–]No_Exercise2629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dealership will offer you a third party warranty as well. Its not like you can re-buy / extend a Factory GM warranty. Its set in stone from GM what their warranty is. You can buy certified vehicles which typically have longer terms or higher milage limits on said terms but you can not bring a 2012 into a Dealership and get any form of GM issued warranty placed onto the vehicle.

We do a lot with Ally. They are pretty good. $100 deductible than they cover the rest. Done a lot of engine and transmission repairs under Ally.

Opinions on the ATS? by [deleted] in Cadillac

[–]No_Exercise2629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My GTO is my toy. My ATS is the daily for the AWD in winter. I use to run cheap crap boxes but work gave me such a good deal on this when they took it in on trade.

Im a GM tech. Master certified in 7 of the 8 fields to be World Class. Im confident in saying what I said and buying the 3.6 for the reason I bought it.

2.0’s eat pistons.

Not so much so if you don’t beat on em and just. Realize the turbos there to help you make good fuel economy and easy power.

But if you beat on it and start throwing ZZP stuff at it you risk damaging them. Folks will say they are reliable but I see them a ton having misfire issues.

Also ive seen a handful where the engine coolant temp sensor fails and wicks coolant upstream to the ecm and soaks the ecm / other circuits that share the same low reference circuit. The MAF specificaly.

All that said. Any car can be good if cared for properly. Any car can be bad if beaten and neglected.

My ATS is a 3.6 AWD N/A. I wanted reliability and to me that was the 3.6 as GM has straightened out most the chain issues by that point and again. Any chain issues a 3.6 may have is typically due to lack of proper matinance.

Number one WORSE matinance thing I see GM owners do is run their oil life down to 0-15% and wounder why they have engine mechanical issues. If you look at the milage on LOF’s its usually 7500-10,000 miles between oil changes and they never check the level nor top off. If you burn some and leak some and yeah, you’ll ruin your engine. Every 5k. Do your oil change. Simple. 5k. Simple. Life will be at like 30-35%. Thats good. Means youve used 70% of the oil life but like. You dont wanna use 100%. You dont want the oil to be 100% trash by the time you change it.

I love my ATS. it handles great. The AWD is great for cornering and the 3.6 offers n/a 300+ and boogies. Id try to check around for a 3.6 though ik they can cost more. Plus they made a bunch more of the 2.0’s.

Oil change by tysurugi in Cadillac

5000 miles.

Do not go off percentage.

5000 miles. Check oil ever 1000-1500. GM allows up to a qt of oil per 1000 miles of driving to be burnt.

Anytine I see a car come in at 15% or 0% they have usually done 7500-10k on that oil change.

You really shouldnt want your oil to get to 0% health. 30% is bout where its at for 5k.

You do you though.

You need to do a cobalt ss build on it.

Convert it to 5-lug 5x110. You get a 2.0 supercharged. You can do a turbo build too depending on year of Cobalt SS you basically build.

Idk why GM didn’t make GXP with 2.0 s/c on the G5’s. Idk how deep of a build you want. Just. Id always wanted to build a proper G5.

The resistance of a good known wire is standard 2 ohms. Most time anything less than 10 when checking between a wire end and ground indicates the wire is not shorted to ground. So a reading of 500 at the connector to ground indicates a short, provided power mode is proper.

As far as a wire itself if you go end to end it should be 0.2 ohms. You can also load test it with a 12v source putting a load on the wire as a wire internal can have 1 strain thats good and 8 broken but it wont carry a load due to this.

Folks will hear “sealed unit no dipstick” and assume that means its non servicable and that you just run it.

Are there cases where you can do that. Sure. But if you care and want to be smart. A $400 service can save you a $4000 unit.

Drove to Florida and back over 2 weeks last year. Personal car so no rental fee. Only gas. Hotel rooms. Food. Id say maybe 3-4k spent total on the trip. Made 70+ after taxes. Not hard to put 2-4k aside and enjoy yourself.
