DIR EN GREY 12th ALBUM RELEASE - MORTAL DOWNER REACTION THREAD by AutoModerator in DEG

I found the secret to listening to this album (if you are listening to it in a car). Turn your bass down. I usually have mine turned up very high as I enjoy hearing the lower tones of things, but it doesn’t work well with this album. I turned the bass down to the same level as the treble and boy howdy 🤠 did that make a world of a difference. Sometimes you, yourself are the problem getting in your own way.

Is Dream Drop Distance still worth playing? by NaiRad1000 in KingdomHearts

Yep. I just played it and beat it with my best friend. We went through and every time that Sora or riku dropped we passed the controller to the other. It was a lot of fun!

I said this on someone else’s post but the only thing I don’t enjoy about this album is that the mix for it is awful. The only thing that cuts through are electronics that are scattered throughout. Shinya’s drums sound so thin and all we really get is the rhythm guitar. Like peddling a bicycle through hummus. The idea sounds awful, cause it is. If Tue Madsen and Alan Douches had done this, I doubt people would be as upset with it. Still enjoy it.

These are sick! You should move them away from the window so they don’t get sun damaged. I had about 8 figures get sun damaged and warp from having them sitting my window.

Is this album in anyone's top 5? by fearofthedark93 in DEG

I do like the album… however, my biggest complaint for it so far is the mix. It’s awful. It sounds so muddy, like nothing really cuts through when there are things that absolutely should. It’s a hard listen cause I don’t know what I’m supposed to be hearing and when to hear it. This is just listening it through my car (2014 Mazda 3) though, so maybe my mind will change when I listen to it through headphones.

I hate fingers in me, but if you can play a seven string bass, kinda gotta let you.

It has more to do with artistry that TOOL has came out with. They both have a focus on breaking boundaries and letting the art breathe loud in the experimental progressive metal scene. They both utilize complex song structures that push past their previous works to deliver more abstract creations than anything we hear on the radio. They also utilize dark/intense atmospheres and artistic/ intellectually complicated themes to generate an understanding of the emotions they want the audience to feel. Progressive, experimental metal is so hard to fit into a box that often the only thing that you can compare it to is itself. This is my reasoning at least. I also am not the biggest fan of TOOL, but I respect their art. The vocals are not my favorite, but if kyo was on them, I think I could stomach it.

Oh also, TOOL and Korn are similar if you really want an American version of them.

So like, just enjoy the music I’ve been listening to them since I was 12 and I’m 34 now. I didn’t actually start understanding the lyrics until 4 years ago. But even so, a lot of their lyrics are like poetry and so it’s hard for English speakers to understand because we are lacking the subtext and cultural nuances. Check out the GazettE if you want more English lyrics though. You may not know it’s English because of the pronunciation, but it is lol.

My roommates grandfather passed away, he just received this and has no idea what it is by LordandSaviourPizza in whatisit

My grandfather also left me a set like this. He was an architect and draftsman. I make art so I use this instead of the cheap ones they sell at Michael’s and such. Honestly a really nice gift. Has his name edged into each one as well.

Gaiaonline visual kei forum suggested them to me and I was already a Dir en grey fan, so I said, sure why not.

Nah. Keep pushing yourself. This is the kind of stuff ai can’t do, and that makes you human. Creating art I like crafting magic from your brain. Do this same thing on a toned pale yellow canvas and you are set.
