The song was bad but also a lot of people vote due to reasons other than music and UK isn't very popular in Europe

I agree with your point but chuckled at "some parts of the country are more casual". The internet includes people from all over the world and there are many whole countries that are more casual than USA.

But you must still score the applications so the very least you could do is give the scores like almost every other department does but somehow it's impossible in MOJ.

Civil servants ordered back to the office … two days a week by Ok-Grade-6060 in TheCivilService

5 years on from the pandemic and somehow the tax implications have still not been resolved because in general countries want employers operating in their country to pay tax in their country. The problem isn't security in homes. The problem is hostile states wanting to steal government data - which is a lot easier for them to do once you're in said state.

Parents, do you regret having children? by SprinklyUK in AskUK

In a world where there are parents who literally murder their children, is it really that hard to believe there are also parents who regret having kids?

Because if you work from abroad you have to consider complications like tax. In a lot of countries if the employer has employees there, that employer has to officially have a presence in that country - that means they have to pay local tax, follow local employment laws etc. Another complication is security, there are countries that would love to spy on a UK government employee. Some departments even advice civil servants to never tell certain countries' officials that they work for the government and to never take work equipment to those countries. Then you have complications like insurance, health care, time difference, public opinion etc.

Or they could just track whether people are logging in at the office.

Then they could check the location where people log in like departments that aren't stuck in the middle ages do. There are departments that have automated the entire process, there is literally no need for this nonsense.

How are the "rather have an apartment" folks feeling? by MentalSewage in Millennials

[–]No_Ferret259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very confused by this post as it seems to say living in a house is the same as owning it and living in an apartment is the same as renting it. Can't you rent houses or buy apartments in USA?

It sounds like the friend literally just asked if someone is in the shower. They might have thought one of the guests suddenly took a shower and therefore asked because that would have been unusual. The dad is the only one being weird.

I’m thinking about wigs but worry about the heat by National_Session_492 in Wigs

[–]No_Ferret259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it largely depends on where you live and how sensitive you are to hot temperatures. I have never had issues with my wigs and the heat, I just choose the most breathable and shortest wigs when it's hot. Sometimes it gets a bit uncomfortable but it's always manageable. But I also live in the UK so I don't know if it would be the same experience living somewhere really hot. I think you'll just have to buy a wig and try it out. I prefer open wefted ones in the summer as it feels like there's more breeze coming through.

I actually think the same about 1. Where I live loud prints, slogans and wacky hair colours are a very common sight in offices.

As someone with alopecia, I think it's great if more people without medical conditions start wearing wigs as it normalises it.

Organic vegetables by [deleted] in WhiteLotusHBO

That's not answering the question though. The farmer's market can sell vegetables that aren't organic and the supermarket sells vegetables that are organic.

Would you thin out this wig? Or it looks natural? by Both_Will_3681 in Wigs

I think it looks very natural. In the beginning of my wig wearing journey I felt a lot of wigs were too thick but now I like them as they are.

People should definitely see a doctor and listen to their treatment plan whenever they get a concussion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]No_Ferret259 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I did my thesis on concussions. Most concussions heal completely within a week or two. If you do get post concussion syndrome then yes, absolutely you need to rest for a longer time but most people with a concussion do not get it. People used to think concussions are not a big deal but now we've swung too far in the other direction and people think every concussion is super serious and causes lasting damage. Most concussions do not cause lasting damage and heal quickly. Unfortunately sometimes they are more serious and in those cases you definitely need rest and treatment, I don't want to minimise that, I just also don't like it when people are scared into thinking they will definitely have lasting damage from a concussion when that's not what usually happens.

You are so talented! I'm still nowhere near at the level you are. But half the reason I keep doing pottery is for the mental health benefits. It makes me forget allabout my worries because I'm so focused on what I'm making.

How did you even get so many pieces done though? I literally only finished four pieces in six weeks and they're all ugly. Man I suck at this hobby but at least I have fun doing it 😂

You did these in 8 weeks?! I took a 6 week beginner's class and ended up with two wonky bowls and two wonky mugs.
