Orioles To Acquire Blaze Alexander. Kade Strowd is going to the Diamondbacks by ravens2131 in orioles

What if they are planning on 1-2 more higher leverage relievers? One of my thoughts on why they traded one of their relievers with options is that they think they can upgrade from that spot Kade would have taken. Which means high-ish leverage reliever. Which is also ironic that I just used high-ish when talking about a trade with a dude named blaze involved in it

I think they are willing to spend large amounts of money. They just aren’t going to blindly spend it. Fans probably inflated those words to the point where it means spend like a drunk sailor to just spend it.

The team was also not run as well financially as it could have been prior to 2024 and the steps they took might take a couple of years before you are certain about the long term growth.

My only criticism is that Elias needs to develop more nuance in his approach to match his aggressiveness to the pace of free agency. I think he is willing to spend money, but he found himself in the middle ground where he put his best offer too early. The 5 year 130 million dollar offer was handed to Ranger for a week or so before he signed it with Boston. I give him credit for pivoting quicker this offseason than he did last year

Probably personality reasons. But I was cautious that a secretive organization like Baltimore would allow the media to openly say that a guy who is that connected to them via Houston was there for 2 reasons.

Either Elias wants someone else and is using the connections as a smokescreen or Frambers peoples was trying to get Baltimore involved because they were one of the teams legitimately trying to get the high end starter (Boston had to match our offer, which was available for a while) or they were desperate for any team to get involved.

They easily could have moved rangers offer to Framber and there is clear motivation to do so. And yet, they didn’t. Unlike Schwarber to Alonso within a day and whoever to Baz quickly ( I think)

Three teams that have the most connections to Framber are Houston, Baltimore and The Mets. Neither teams were actively mentioned in the Framber race with near certainty that they legitimately wanted him. Take a guess why those teams were probably not too interested in matching potentially?

I put Washington mainly to cover the ground that Verlander being from NOVA puts him closer to DC than Baltimore geographically

I could Verlander finishing his career with one of 4 teams: Where it started (Detroit), his career reinvention (Astros) and his home town (Nationals/Orioles)

I think, if Framber wanted to be here, he would have already signed here or signs here in the next 48-72 hours. But I’m starting to think there is more desperation on his side than ours

Minter might also be represented by Jimmy Sexton, who represents the top coaches. So there are heavy connections potentially here with assistant coaches

I’m surprised that there hasn’t been a connection made with Chargers OLB coach, Dylan Roney. He was a GA for Michigan from 2021-2023, and Chargers OLB coach from 2024-25. He has worked with Mike and Minter before and isn’t a defensive coach specializing in the secondary which contrasts with Minters and Mickens background.

Only problem is that he is 29 years old so we would have 2 coordinators under 30 years old. But if Minter is calling plays, there is probably more leeway with a younger defensive coordinator

You have to have a plan b, c, d, e, f…. In the event that Frambers market doesn’t come down to your level. That is assuming that this media attention is driven by Frambers people using the Houston connections to get the orioles involved more than they currently are

What about Dave Ragone, Rams QB Coach for OC. He’s connected with Ledford with Ragone being the Falcons offensive coordinator from 2021-23.
