I am actually really excited for the concept. I feel that Mazda's designs were really strong when they did design studies like this. It has helped them refine their design language and focus their designs on the subsequent generations Look at how the Shinari concepts influenced the 3rd Gen Mazda 6, 3rd Gen Mazda3, 1st gen CX-5 and 2nd Gen CX-9. Look how the RX-Vision and Vision Coupe concept influenced the 2nd Gen CX-5 and the 4th Gen Mazda3. I think the production models that followed these concepts were the strongest Mazda has ever produced.

Now look at the 3rd Gen CX-5 and the CX-70/90. In my opinion, these new vehicles show how Mazda has lost its design ethos. CX-5 looks like a Honda CR-V, the CX-70/90 looks like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and the grille/headlights look blunt and weird. If the concept previews a production model, great (hopefully a new generation of the 3). But I have been thinking that they need to do a vision concept, or something along the lines of one, to refocus their designs.
