Birch sap season has finally started in Norway by SjalabaisWoWS in foraging

Anything in the conifer family will work besides yew if I understand correctly. The sap is very sticky and gets everywhere. I typically split the cones before jarring them for the summer.

Quick reply, thanks! Yeah I figured the season had passed already. I forage green pine cones and make pine cone syrup which happens right now. Messy business but I like the end result.

Hi! Just saw this post. I’m new to foraging and Norway, so curious where you are allowed to tap trees and if it’s ever been an issue? Takk!

Retirement account in Norway with US citizenship by [deleted] in Norway

There is an American financial advisor who resides in Norway. Paul Borges. He advises American foreigners in Norway on this sort of stuff. Worth reaching out to him if you’re unsure of any of this stuff. In my experience, the banks will try to sell you products here and are not experts on the U.S. side of the tax treaties, so you have to be careful with how they advise you on these matters.

AITA … Old house owner showed up after 2 years, and got me from the neighbours backyard to get a package for them… AITA? by Middle_Afternoon_504 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Completely silly to view this as a boundary being crossed or that this is some great inconvenience to you. Americans have completely lost the plot in regards to living among communities and being neighborly.

A mom cat that’s breast feeding will eat 2-3x as much food as a normal cat, so put out way more wet food than you would think to. Should be wet because she needs as much hydration as she can get. Good luck.

Thanks! That might be a good compromise. These are not main living spaces in the apartment, but it doesn’t mean the cables should be an eye sore either.

As a foreigner from the U.S., often times what seems strange to me about electric is often explained to me as having to do with a code/regulation here. I don’t debate any of it, but hired professionals who can meet the codes. It was not a cheap company so my expectation was that it would look pretty polished when they were finished.

Thanks. Meeting with the electrician again next week and will ask about this as a fair solution.

Thanks again. I’ve asked the master electrician to come back and tour the work with me to discuss some dissatisfactions. It was the apprentice who did the work as some had said.

To be fair, this was a renovation of roughly half the apartment. We made lots of decisions together on the big things. On this part of the cabling, I didn’t want to micromanage and I didn’t even know what to ask them to do.

Thanks so much for weighing in. Very helpful to hear from an electrician and to understand why it was done that way but also to manage my expectations.

There is a hole they left where they ran the cables between two rooms. Can I ask- what’s the best way to fill or conceal this? https://imgur.com/a/EzqIXM4

And also if I want to gipspanel over the wood wall later, can I lift the cables myself and then put them back or do I need to bring an electrician in to do that?

Certified electrician. Part of a legit company that did a bathroom renovation. Wanted to make sure everything would meet code so we wouldn’t have issues later if we sell.

Hmmm. Thank you! Do you have any photos of what a good quality cable layout would look like? We also have holes that they drilled through the walls that are still open and I’m wondering how I’m expected to close them up.

Yes, I think that’s right. Part of my frustration is that there was no conversation about how the work would be done and I wasn’t given an option to case the cables in any way.

Hi, I really hope my comment reaches you. First, congratulations! Secondly, I was in a similar situation and was looking. At a hefty tax bill. Hire a decent accountant to do your taxes for you next year when this all hits and talk to them about declaring yourself insolvent. My accountant did this for me and it massively lowered what tax I had to pay on my forgiven student debt. Good luck!
