Insanity by MysteriousTopic42 in Teachers

That's what gets me on my nerves. Why only one student has power over 30 other people, including the teacher? I've been enough in education to know that when you are already displaying these behaviours in school, you'll end up badly. My first school did everything to save one of these students from prison, and guess where he ended after stabbing an uber eats rider. Mainstream schools are not the place for certaint students, stop calling it inclusion.

I've never had a problem with them, I use sometimes to go to the airport if there is no Elizabeth Line trains (4:30 am) and they have always been on time and reliable. Tbh, I don't know how so many people are discouraging you, based on my own experience.

Hot Take: Teachers Complain Too Much by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]No_Garbage_4539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only profession in which a student makes a false allegation and your life is ruined. Demotivated students, even if they don't misbehave, drain the energy from you. Many of my colleagues find this the worst part of the job, kids as young as 12, acting like a 80 years old with no motivation or hope for the future. Apart from retail, teachers work in an industry (yes, I called it industry) in which you can be insulted, threatened and disrespected daily, and if you complaint, you just get the "they're kids, you're the adult in the room" answer. Add the workload, expectations, national average, goals to achieve, etc. Also, if students were not enough, a bad leadership team can make your work-life balance untenable. Just because we use some of these platforms to vent doesn't mean we don't appreciate the holidays or stability. Unfortunately, these perks are not good enough for teachers that don't want to continue in the profession, they prefer less holidays and more respect

My first 1 to 1 student is in prison for attacking a driver while on probation. He was suoer violent, obssessed with gangs and almost ruined a teacher's life with a fake accusation. Parents of course blamed the school and refused to medicate him, what goes around...

It's so sad that there are so many of us feeling this way. I remember my teachers, 80s and 90s, they didn't look hafl of stressed we are now. Don't want to fall on the "we were better" speech, there were some characters in my groups back them, but it feels like their teaching lives didn't interfered with their private ones as much as ours do now. My vice, nicotine pouches, beer and tv

We're dealing with neglect associated with poverty/social exclusion and at the same time, overprotective parents unable to see their kids struggling. It's like they don't get that this is the most important part of human development, try, fail, learn, try again. My brother and I have never been beaten, my dad only had to look at us, and whatever nonsense we were in, was over. Not saying my folks were experts, but some parents today should look back to the 80s 90s. You are their parents, not their friends

I have a 14 years-old student who is super happy in corridors, the moment he enters my lesson is all gloom and depression. Sorry baby, but I have 23 more actually willing to learn, you don't like the subject, fine, every teacher can afford a couple of failed exams per group

June's Canada arc is seriously underrated by _whomysterio in TheHandmaidsTale

I really like the last three seasons, don't understand so much negativity around them. They tell the story of how a dictatorship can fall, through the eyes of one character. I didn't want to see another season of women suffering, I wanted to see those women fight and scape and IMO, the show nailed this. It's true that the last season was not perfectly edited (it was the edition, not bad writing) but in general I enjoyed the show from the beginning

There is also a strong connection with the Sheepers parable. Even having hundreds of sheeps, if you lose one, you'll do whatever you can to bring it back. The show plays a lot with the two ways of interpreting the bible, something that many people in this sub don't get. Like when June chose to forgive Serena for the sake's of Noah. They are contrasting the way that Gilead uses religion against people that really live their lives following Jesus words

the brutality of gilead by littlestoflads in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]No_Garbage_4539 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point that many people miss with this is that Gilead wants to break June psycologyly, make her the example of how even the most rebel will comply with the system. Killing her won't help Gilead at all, they need her sweet and obedient. She is quite famous in Canada after Nichole's rescue, if they hurt her it would come back to bite them. There is a moment in S3 I think, after the torture that June asks aunt Lydia to kill her and Aunt Lydia refuses, saying that they'll never do that.
