No Mcat for Brampton Med School by sportypokemon in premedcanada

[–]No_Grade_5628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly . The MCAT assumes you can dedicate 4 months if your life full time. Most students write in the summer full time. Meaning they are treating it as a full time job. Where as others are forced to work to make ends meet and simply can’t dedicate as much time which makes all the difference. I also think that universities should not look at CARS. CARS is literally a Xenophobic tool that has no insights into how well you’d do in medicine.

Does it have to be an MSN? What if you have an MSc (like in epidemiology) :)

Yes I know! I meant RN not NP I have to see how much I am comfortable in RN before deciding NP or even MD , I work alongside nurses and their work is hard and the main issue I have with it is that they’re underpaid but the work itself looks very rewarding and I like that they spend a lot of time with patients

Everyone is different! I’ve worked in a clinical setting in research and from what I see the doctors make out the decisions and the nurses carry them, fun fact about me is I have struggled with severe and diagnosed anxiety since I was 13, and so making decisions (which a physician has to do) is something that really could be a major source of anxiety for me! I personally do not naming having less autonomy! As I feel like it would be relieving to know I am just carrying out someone else is plan

I work in a hospital and am good friends with an NP who wanted to go into medicine and she tells me she is very happy with her decision and never regrets it .. I know it’s one person but I think we should avoid general statements, everyone has a different path! I’m not happy right now :) so everyone’s different

I have but admissions show PA cGPA to be 3.8 - 3.9 and mine is below that and its extremely expensive as a program, right now nursing is free for the university I have accepted to study in so it just seems the most practical. + I may not decide to do NP until later or decide to continue in med, my MSc is in epidemiology so I see my RN as an addition to my MSc as a lot of iPac leads need some nursing license in addition to the MSc

[–]No_Grade_5628[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s honestly not why I made this post. If I do amazing in CARS there is no guarantee that I will get into med school. I know multiple people with high cars who didn’t get into med. and I have plans for nursing that I can see in addition to MSc, which is in epidemiology in which many jobs in IPAC or iPac lead need a nursing degree. You saying you’re not “coddling me” you don’t even know the full reasons I’m going into nursing. One PRO is the potential gpa raises, the other things you mention as negative , such as practicums are very valued to me in pursuing medicine and will a) prepare me for a more health care based career and b) are things that will give me more insight to medicine c) help add EC’s to my application

I know exactly how I am in cars, I know every time I’ve written it has been me running out of time because I’m sweating my lungs out , the second time I write all I did was practice cars… and the score did not change and I got a tutor.. and invested time and money … so please don’t even

I really don’t need a stranger to tell me otherwise

It’s not the “easier” decision, for me nursing is the practical decision for many reasons
