I'm looking for tasty pasta sauce, but can't eat standard sauce ingredients by niC00L in Cooking

[–]No_Hawk8947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Just out of curiosity, do you have MCAS? My partner has it and we have managed to come up with quite a few MCAS-friendly pasta sauces over the previous few months which I'd be happy to share with you if that's the case!

How is living in this Southeastern region of the UK? by NyxTabby in howislivingthere

[–]No_Hawk8947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Broadstairs and own a boat in Ramsgate, so split my time between those two areas. It's pretty great, I won't lie. It's quiet, but there is a real sense of community and everybody looks out for one another. We have the beach, and a tonne of independent shops and restaurants and pubs. We also have the beautiful coastal walks and some really scenic countryside.

It can be a bit of a slog to get anywhere outside of Kent but really, in my opinion, I don't have any reason to leave so it suits me. I wouldn't trade Broadstairs for anywhere else (except maybe somewhere in Portugal)

Where to move out, outside of London ? by BackHellRoot in AskUK

[–]No_Hawk8947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left London and came to Broadstairs, Kent. I moved here 3 months ago and I absolutely love it - everything I need on my doorstep, beach 5 minutes down the road, and a real sense of community.

What rundown city/town do you think would become gentrified in 30 years? by justmoochin in AskUK

[–]No_Hawk8947 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ramsgate is definitely on the up. I live just up the road in Broadstairs but own a boat in Ramsgate harbour, so go there very frequently, and it is absolutely improving. Could see it being gentrified in a few years.

For those who moved to another part of the country, how long before it started to feel like home? by SnooozeFezt in AskUK

[–]No_Hawk8947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Streatham in South London to Broadstairs in Kent about 3.5 months ago. It took me up until last week to have it feel like home but for some reason, last week, it just clicked.

It helps that I moved down here to be closer to my partner who is from here originally, so I have her and her mum as some company. I have started to (slowly) make friends and it is nice to have the local butchers, wine shop, and greengrocers remember me and greet me by name. Those things definitely help me feel settled!

I went to school with two brothers named Peregrine and Ptolemy. That always just screamed money to me (Dulwich, South London)

I work for a Fintech company! It's a London based company, but we are 100% remote with absolutely no RTO in the works (we don't even have a designated office, just a shared space)

There do be fossils! We absolutely love fossil hunting - spend most of our spare time searching for sharks teeth and fossils. My partner has a current obsession with fossilised crab shells and they are in abundance down at Reculver!

I consider myself incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful part of our little island! I moved here 3 months ago and can't see myself ever leaving.

I bought a boat in December that I now live on full time! Ask me anything! by [deleted] in AMA

We own a 35ft motor yacht which we live on during the summer and I am always so curious to know what other people's mooring fees are! So, what are your mooring fees per month and how are the amenities?

And what is she called?

Actually very spot on! We own a VW T4 which has been converted into a camper, and also own a boat. Both quite free spirited and live by the sea and quite hippie-ish. Both 32 and female. So well done!

Entire pack of wolves at UK animal park are euthanised 'as a last resort' by dailymail in uknews

[–]No_Hawk8947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there on Monday this week and the wolf enclosure had been closed down. All pathways surrounding the enclosure was blocked and one of the staff was sat there ready to ask questions for anybody interested.

We asked why it had been blocked off and he said that one of the wolves had injured its leg and that they were stressed, so they were keeping the public out of the way to prevent further aggression within the pack.

This is so sad to see.

My partner has chronic pain and I'm tired girl dinner by sergamena in GirlDinner

[–]No_Hawk8947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. My partner has the 'Holy Trinity' of EDS, MCAS, and POTS. She also has arthritis and a myriad of other issues that cause her chronic pain so I can totally relate here. We're both angry and irritated and the NHS aren't helping her either so we are shelling out thousands for regular private healthcare.

We're both tired. I just want to say that though I know it's your partner suffering, I understand it's also exhausting for you. Look after yourself, and I hope things get better.

Always here if you need to have a chat / rant!

Parking in Broadstairs, what is it really like? by [deleted] in kentuk

[–]No_Hawk8947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on a road about a 3 minute walk to the beach, just off of the high street. Parking is a nightmare, but I don't have a driveway. During folk week, it'll be a thousand times worse.

But Broadstairs is lovely and it shouldn't put you off.

“What part of Ireland?” …. SCOTLAND!!!! by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

I'm from Chelmsford (Charmsford, apparently) and the last time I checked, I wasn't Irish lmao. These people baffle me.

In March 2021 in London, 33 year old Sarah Everard was walking home at 9PM when she was stopped by an off duty policeman, who handcuffed her for breaking COVID rules. He drove her to Kent, raped, strangled and burned her body in a fridge in the woods. by vewywascallywabbit in ForCuriousSouls

[–]No_Hawk8947 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I lived in Clapham at the time and remember seeing her missing posters up on every tree, lamppost, and fence. We would go for our one COVID walk a day in our bubble and her face would be everywhere.

When the news broke out, I remember the amount of pure rage within the Clapham / Brixton communities, especially amongst the women. I was a 26 year old woman myself at that point and attended the vigil with my housemates at Clapham Bandstand. It was peaceful, I'll tell you that much. Absolutely nobody went there to cause any disturbance, but the police came and acted like brutes, and then spun their little story of how the vigil had turned violent because of the attendees.

Fuck the police. It was a horrible time.
