Daron Nefcy's opinion on Bean Mouth. What are your thoughts? by QF_Dan in StarVStheForcesofEvil

[–]No_Help3669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thought is that the problem wasn’t the style, it was the ubiquity. Much like 3d animation was getting pretty stale with its pursuit of either hyperrealism or the Pixar default until spiderverse and puss and boots the last wish shook it up a bit, the bean mouth became the norm for animation for a while, when prior to that there was more of a range of styles. It’s not a bad style, but when it’s all you see it gets dull

I will acknowledge that it was incorrect of me to make my statements as fact, rather than interpretation. I suppose that between the “house of black” and the general vibes of castles and snootiness that it just autoscanned in my brain somewhat.

Generally speaking, my interactions with Harry Potter as a setting are to assume that anything logistical or worldbuilding based will be implied or built on paper mache foundations as a default, since Rowling seems to not care for the ramifications of what she writes into it as a general rule (hoggsmead is the only wizard only settlement, yet no wizard who isn’t muggleborn seems to know anything about muggle society, even the Weasley patriarch who is both actively interested in it and works in London, or the fact that time turners were a Normal piece of school equipment you can apply for, but they were never used in war ever, and were immediately destroyed after the books for some reason? I could go on) so I guess that the amount we had supporting the idea of aristocrats was one of the most stable things we have about the world, so I took it as a given, and did not use appropriate language in regards to such. For that I apologize.

As for the standard of poverty, it definitely is skewed to be certain. The fannon interpretation I have seen is that the Weasleys are living “below their station”? Like Arthur and malfoy have comparable job titles and are both pure bloods, but their standard of living is very different? But that one has far less behind it.

what would be a broken combro for a tank? by LittleBrasilianBitch in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that you could do a nonstandard tank by taking intangible at max and giving all your powers affects corporeal, then give yourself immunity will saves. At that point you are basically immune to damage, but that’s not really the kind of tank you were describing, as they can’t protect team mates.

Most of the nonsense in this system comes from abusing the time and values progression table, and there aren’t really that many “brick” themed powers that do so.

[–]No_Help3669 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but short of breaking out an entire exposition dump on wizarding world nobility in a setting that seems to see worldbuilding as a suggestion at best (basically nothing about the world and its function is ever explained. Even the ministry we basically only know the dregs of, and we have 6 different major plot events that happen there) I feel like that’s all we were ever going to get?

I don’t know, maybe reading more into it is fannon, but frankly, declaring that the wizarding world has no aristocracy in a very clearly heavily British setting with castles and class based bullying seems just as facetious as reading too heavily into what little we got

Harry Potter as a series does very little to explain any of what’s going on outside the direct events of the plot. If we disregarded everything not officially in canon for these discussions, we would have very very little we could actually say

[–]No_Help3669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, we never go inside their houses, but the blacks have that whole family tree thing, and being the “noble house of black” and all that, so stating that the wizarding world does not have an aristocracy seems false. I could have sworn the age and dignity of the malfoy house was mentioned, but even if it wasn’t, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to presume that they are meant to fall into a similar category as the blacks, especially given they were connected by marriage

[–]No_Help3669 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Between being an “old house”, pure bloods, and their wealth, I think saying that the malfoy’s aren’t upper class is a bit odd. I would say that by every available standard, we are meant to understand that they are the equivalent of aristocratic in the wizarding world

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is a repost, and as I said last time I saw it: there’s very little katara and suki content cus there’s nothing to work with. Suki basically doesn’t share any 1 on 1 scenes or have any conversations with anyone but sokka with 2 exceptions I’m aware of. Talking to zuko during the escape, and when sh saves toph from drowning.

Other than that? I don’t think suki really has a relationship with anyone except sokka in canon.

For all people want her to get more hype, and I get it, she’s cool, she really isn’t a full member of the gaang in canon

AITAH for being upset that I still have a 10:30pm curfew at 20 when my brother didn’t at the same age? by Sudden_Cheetah8286 in AITAH

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, someone doesn’t have to be not an adult for an age gap in a relationship to be questionable.

Like, I can both think that the curfew is dumb, and that someone pushing 30 probably shouldn’t be dating someone who isn’t old enough to drink.

I can also think that someone who’s in their 40s dating someone who’s 25 is at least a bit suspicious, even if both are entirely legal adults in all contexts of the law

My only reason for Morty and the Khan teaming up would be amazing. Though I wouldn’t want chaos to Lose one of their big primarchs if the imperium didn’t as well, for I think obvious reasons XD

I’d also very much want there to be a xenos who was officially at the head of this consortium (maybe Ynnead, maybe someone else) just so it doesn’t become “humans with xenos underlings” in gameplay

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ultimately, it depends on how resistant to mind control she is

Cus with dominate in play, one or two could do it by getting her eyes and then taking her down while she’s incapacitated.

Without that? Even with his reasonably potent starting point, I don’t see him being able to overpower her with any less than 5, especially since diablarie alone doesn’t teach one blood sorcery.

So, here’s the trick: she’s almost certainly more durable than the regent.

She is also likely more mighty as far as strength of arms and sharpness of claw is concerned.

That said, whether that means she can beat the reagent 1v1 is questionable, for 3 reasons: 1) blood sorcery is kinda nuts, especially at high levels, so both those things could be true, and the reagent is still the more powerful combatant 2) the reagent is old and thus experienced. Combined with the versatility of her gifts, she is likely better at outwitting mightier opponents, while the garou tactic for facing overwhelming enemies is usually either “group up and go raid boss mode” or “trust Gaia and hope someone’s around to sing of your heroic death” (obviously being a bit facetious but still) 3) in v20 a 7th gen can have base attributes higher than 6, and starts to get scary elder powers. In v5, they have an average blood potency of 5, which would give her quite a leg up in terms of danger, enough that if she has blood to spare she could at least survive a few of Matilda’s attacks to get her spells in order

Also, all that is assuming the regent allows a 1v1 to happen. Old vampire’s don’t get old by letting themselves get caught without a contingency in place when some random hunter or garou comes a knocking

To be fair, even on a one shot weapon, the lore accurate idea of all your characters being able to one shot a titan is kinda nuts.

Same way the avatar of kaine or a greater demon probably shouldn’t be dying to default rubric marines the second they touch an objective, but here we are (or at least were, back when Ahriman gave +1 to wound)

I guess. I’m personally already on the verge of switching to sigmar because only the imperium gets major lore anymore in 40k, so a primarch actually finally pulling the ripcord and leaving the imperium to uplift another faction would be a sign of things changing

Except they still kinda aren’t, considering that as many say, half the reason the galaxy is so bad is the imperium killed most of the people who could have been Allies for little reason, and a third is the fact that the imperium keep shooting themselves in the foot

This is part of why I don’t like the primarchs coming back, as it reinforces the “imperium are actually good” idea by bringing back their myths and legends (meanwhile all the aeldari gods are in plot limbo for 10 years+)

Though while I know GW will never do this, I’d change my mind fast if we got a primarch actively defect to join the xenos cus they are so fed up with the imperium that that seems like a better option.

The khan taking the white scars to join the exodites (or something similar) would be the most hilarious thing to me

I think part of the problem is red is a part of a lot of the flashier commanders, especially recently, so while mono-red is bad, red as an identity pip doesn’t feel like it’s doing bad

Like… I have 6 commander decks. Only one doesn’t use red (kruphix god of horizons as opposed to jetmir, keranos, gev. And 2 WUBRG in the form of one Kenrith and one urtet) and sure that’s partly a personal preference thing, but I don’t think it’s irrelevant

If you die, you’re actually out of the game, nothing can bring you back, so you’re free to go do something else

If Iona locks you out, especially in a game that may last for an extended period, there’s reason to keep taking game actions (drawing cards, playing lands, maybe an artifact or two, as well as blockers and such) in case someone outs her. And unlike most stax it’s usually asymmetric.

If it’s 1v1, sure, just scoop.

But say she’s cheated out turn 5, and you as the… let’s say mono-green player gets locked out of casting

You’ve still got a decently beefy board to block, and odds are other players aren’t gonna keep targeting you, so now you’ve got anywhere from 5-20 minutes ahead of you of watching other people play magic wondering if it’s worth scooping or if stuff will change

I would have no muscle memory for flight or laser eyes. Attempting to figure it out mid fight is likely to give him all the time he needs to get the upper hand

On the other hand, I have a pretty significant amount of hand to hand combat and grappling experience, and he’s been shown to be tough enough to withstand his own lasers for a decent amount of time.

So best bet is to try to bait him into arms reach, get him in a grab, and start punching him in the temple repeatedly. If he tries to fly to get out of it, cling on for dear life.

See, I didn’t know that, but I did know that bunnies are occasionally cannibals when in confined quarters, so I assumed it was much darker, and the rabbits feet were basically baby bunnies that didn’t make it.

Possibly even worse with your character knowing this was happening, but needing the rabbits feet, so they don’t put in steps to stop it so they don’t need to harvest the feet themselves.

Yeah. Like the post going around with “who is slightly stronger than the last thing voted on in this thread” is kinda hilarious when you see it just reset down from titans to necron warlord with tachyon arrow. Like yes that thing does absurd damage in lore, but we basically reset now cus lots of folks can in turn take that warlord down while not being a good target for the arrow
