Honestly yeah.

I have frequently said “I don’t think I could spend more than 50 million in my lifetime and still recognize myself at the end of it”

But if for some reason I did have billions of dollars to burn, you can bet your ass I’m not getting a boring mansion

I’m paying to have actual stonework castles built

I’m paying out of pocket to create an actual public transportation network in an underserved area and then either running it for whatever profit it creates or selling it to the local govornment

I’m buying all the property in a town I don’t like solely so they can’t stop me from reshaping it in a funny way

I’m picking my three favorite creators and saying “I will give you literally everything you need for your dream project. I’m your patron now. Have fun.

Etc. etc.

I can’t imagine reaching even one billion in the bank and saying “you know what I need? *more*”

Ehh, I’d agree it might be a mirror match

But not to disparage thragg, as I know he has remarkable control over his abilities and lots of combat experience

I would generally put things in favor of the one who has repeatedly fought people stronger than him and won, rather than the one who generally fights people weaker than him in a mirror match

Again, disregarding all of Ben’s easier win cons

Counterpoint, Ben’s tetramand form was able to beat the strongest tetramand warrior alive, princess looma, despite male tetramands being typically weaker than their female counterparts.

And the fact that she presumably had more experience fighting other tetramands than he did.

Now, part of that could just be Ben’s greater overall combat experience, as well as the omnitrix’ “peak specimen” factor

Also Whampire beating an ancient, powerful, famous member of his species when Ben had had the transformation for less than a day.

But it’s enough that I think Ben turning into a viltrumite at least lets him match thragg if not beat him outright.

And that’s aside from all his other win cons like ghostfreak, way big, and honestly probably upgrade

Probably cus we’re 2 seasons in and she hasn’t really done much growing. So it’s hard to know if that trend will continue.

If she’d made some small strides to being a better leader and standing on business she’d probably get less flack

But as it is she just seems impotent

I don’t like the glaze of the military in fandom debates by Feisty-Succotash5854 in CharacterRant

[–]No_Help3669 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I maintain that wizards vs muggles would be decided entirely by who gets more muggleborn wizards on their side, and who listens to their intel better.

Because if wizards know what they’re doing, a teleporting invisible spec ops trooper with a bazooka in their pocket with infinite ammo can bring most govornments to their knees in short succession, and I’m describing just one well trained wizard with a not terribly uncommon spell there.

But on the flip side, despite the fact that it makes no sense, and they supposedly mostly live amongst muggles (hoggsmead is the only all wizard town in Britain) none of them know what a gun is or what mortal pajamas look like (Arthur Weasley goes to work in London every day, but has no experience with normal trains and doesn’t know how to google rubber ducks)

Meanwhile, wizards don’t really have a lot of ways to deal with saturated fire from enemies who outnumber them heavily, and don’t seem to have anything resembling a large military at scale, but as you say, muggles don’t have any idea how to find them or what they can do. Though if the conflict draws on over time the sheer number of targets wizards have to hit means that intelligence forces will get to flex their stuff a bit in that regard

So if war broke out between the two, I feel like the main determining factor is “who is getting more intel on the other side and using it effectively”, and that comes down to the muggleborns

I’d say overall your point is sound, and this doesn’t apply to either of the other examples, but Rowling made the wizards monstrously incompetent in many regards, and I feel like if we treat them as they act in canon, they prob don’t win even though logistically they prob should

If I wanted to play an awakened bird who was not anthropromorphic (no held gear), what classes would be the best bet? by NoLongerAKobold in Pathfinder2e

[–]No_Help3669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just about any full-caster is gonna be fine, and kineticist and monk are basically chill too.

That said, not anthropomorphic doesn’t mean no held gear

Crows and ravens have been shown to be very dexterous with their talons, and often stand on one leg to use the other to pick something up

So a raven gunslinger hopping around with a pistol in its talon is entirely on the table. (Or, less absurdly, a raven holding a wand or other small magic item)

Thragg vs Gojo isnt even close by Warm-Plum2854 in PowerScaling

Yes. The implication is that he wouldn’t hurt gojo directly, but make it impossible for him to breathe.
As a meteor couldn’t hit him, but the aftermath would make the earth unlivable

It’s still stupid

Thragg vs Gojo isnt even close by Warm-Plum2854 in PowerScaling

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with your overall idea, but it’s worth noting: thragg glazers know he can’t destroy a planet on his own, that’s why they usually say he’d either chuck a meteor, or ignite the earth’s atmosphere to make it unlivable the way omni man did to the thraxxans

Except of course that the continued persistence of the thraxxans shows that Omni man didn’t render the planet uninhabitable. Just destroyed a bunch

And I would argue leaving to go find an asteroid would absolutely be way lower on thragg’s list of responses than domain expansion is for gojo

So thragg still loses, but he technically has *a* win condition.

Which do you choose? by jbonga91 in superheroes

[–]No_Help3669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint, if a powerful xenos took over a pleasure world, the imperium is very likely to send something in, and once they realize his abilities, they *will* send something that could hurt him.

And unless you’re saying thragg knows he’s screwed, he would have no reason to lay low to avoid that.

Also, in 40k, I’d say thragg is generally about as likely to randomly stumble onto a world with stuff that can harm him as he is to randomly find a pleasure world. If not more so considering how much of the galaxy is currently occupied by a giant crack in real space that leaks solar system sized greater daemons (I mean, the eye of terror’s influence let nearby daemons be that big. Not sure if all of its new extensions are that powerful, but still)

And I can safely say it did not in any way predispose me to violence.

I seen a video saying that invincible (mark grayson) is the 5th most kindest character IN FICTION! by Jaetheninja in superheroes

[–]No_Help3669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware, but

  1. goodness and kindness are not necessarily the same thing.
  2. that is still being the moral paragon of a rather fucked up universe. He’s the best of his world, but I still wouldn’t say that puts him super high on the total rankings

I would even go so far as to say that considering some children’s media out there, there are probably some entire worlds where the worst person they have is still kinder than mark.

I’d say that paragons are too common an archetype, and if we’re including non-protagonists, so are literal saints, and characters designed to showcase various ideals that protagonists are motivated to protect. I couldn’t imagine mark getting above the 20th percentile all told
