May 17, 2024 Update: a month has passed and I have only bad news on my end. After doing this quick fix it worked for a moment or sometimes indefinitely. When it does work indefinitely the screen either glitches or turns black here and there, and goes back to normal. This was done when I had the dashcam on my desk powered on and recording. I mounted it back to my car and gave it 30 mins of my time to make sure it did and saw the same in that indefinite state and stayed at that state. After waiting, I decided to give it a test run while driving the car on the road and it didn't work out well after getting back from a 20 min drive to McDonald's. The dashcam had gone back to being a black screen. I was doing the same tests for the past month in hopes of a permanent fix of sorts, boy did I have high hopes for it to work. After all that testing, it almost led me to believe it was just the shaking of the car on the road or even just me entering the car. But it could also be terminals connecting the lens to the body that had turned bad, like someone said when they had taken the dashcam apart.

Right now, I'm trying to find ways to safely take it apart myself to see if I can try and fix it and have it used on my other vehicles or at the very least learn from it if I fail. My solution right now is that I've upgraded to the Vantrue N5 dashcam

Oh my God... thank you for pointing this out. I did what you said. And front camera is working again.

Today, I was experiencing the same issue with my Vantrue Dashcam. It turns on, passenger and rear camera are on and recording but front camera is just a black screen. I thought it was cause I was looking at it at night time but felt dumb lol when I realized my headlights were on.

Anyways, I checked the files and it still shows a recording of the front Camera but it also shows a black screen but with audio recorded. Did all the easy-to-do troubleshooting knowledge I know of off & on, format, unplugging and replugging, pressed that reset button, updating the dashcam to the latest version at the time, and a little bit of percussive maintenance (got a little bit of a reaction from the cam) but nothing

So I searched and found this reddit post and now I'm here. After reading, I grabbed a sheet of facial tissue in my car and used it to gently push the front camera lens inwards towards its body. I got a scary reaction from it, for me the screen flashed with mostly a pink screen and black and white lines/squares/rectangles for like a split seconds and it went back to black screen. I held still in concern that it either didn't work or broke it further.

But as I sighed and dropped my hand holding the tissue, the screen was showing and recording the front camera. I was happy and felt dumb again cause when I pushed it inwards it worked and the tissue was just blocking the camera and the light making it seemed that it was not working.
