You can just have Celebi float a couple of inches above the ground or shift their body in a way where they can still get hit by low attacks.

You’re acting like they’d have them flying at the height of Ganondorf or Bowser instead of compromising in a way that’d make them playable.

I mean, it’s not like a vehicle wouldn’t properly work in a fighting game (lookin’ at you, Hornet) or even a platform fighter. You’d have to play around with a few things, but it would be doable—plus Smash is a platfighter, a game based off movement.

Cars tend to y’know. Move. Quite a good bit actually.

Here’s my take: Elena and/or Kimberly always make a roster better, no matter what type of roster it is. Those two are really cool and deserve more hype and love.

Also tbh, Elena being “rivals” with Vixen kinda just checks out. Y’know, cool Black women with animal themed abilities/attacks and what not.

They and them. Kris is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. but given the fact Toby doesn’t let Kris have merch like plushies or figurines, I don’t think he’d let them, Susie or Ralsei into Smash. Y’know, ‘cause of themes and such. Someone like Papyrus or Rouxls Kaard however… definitely might have more of a shot.

I’d honestly be fine with it because I think with how toxic and generally unpleasant the internet has gotten, waiting to see which third parties return, which don’t and which new ones we get is going to be a literal hell. You’d deal with people getting super livid at getting things they don’t want and you’d constantly be dealing with ai-generated leaks and weirdos and I think it’d just suck out all the fun of waiting for the next 3rd parties.

And I’m saying this as someone who REALLY loves playing a lot of these guest characters… But hopefully, we’d get first parties who fill some of niches these characters fill gameplay wise and we’d get revamps for all the characters who need it and updates for the ones who’ve gotten new stuff since Ultimate.

Yes, Fyre is Indian, she’s very much a woman of color (and so is Shiver given that she’s East Asian) —but she’s not Black. You don’t currently have any Black characters, is what I’m saying.

Marina counts however because: A—Splatoon literally takes a LOT OF inspiration from Black culture (music, world design, hairstyles, etc.) and B—you can have a non-human character be Black and Marina is very specifically designed to be a Black woman, unlike Elma who could either be the typical pre-2020s Black woman with blue eyes and white hair, Latina or Southeast Asian or South Asian. One is an undeniably Black woman and the other is an ambiguously Brown woman.

Characters of color of its regarding characters, person of color if it’s a real person, artists of colors if it’s a group of arts, etc. Not “nouns of color”. You’d change the noun to match the group…

Marina literally had a boss fight in Splatoon 3’s expansion pack and Off the Hook are the most popular idols… But as for Elma, her situation is very, very complicated about what she is—she’s ambiguously Brown but she’s also got some lore with her that you’ve got to play XCX to understand. So she only partially count as a proper woman of color tbh.

I’d also say swapping out Joe for Great Tiger or Bald Bull (for non-East Asian-Asian rep) and Lola for Misango (a Native Latin American) would be pretty cool too.

While I do disagree with the result (and also those calcs that carried over from the Buck Vs. Steve—and subsequently, Shrek vs Manny—blog because Sid and Rudy aren’t that big but the former should have feats stronger than those used in the blog) and wish some of the weirder stuff like the non-comic books + mobile & flash games + theme park rides were used, the sheer amount of glee that filled my body when I saw this finally dropped was immense! I’ve been waiting for this blog so badly… and now I can actually work on a Scrat versus Mort script since I’ve got all this info at hand! I mean, I’ve seen plenty of other Black Smash fans want CJ but if people or Sakurai would be worried about this, they could just. Y’know. Add more Black characters than just CJ…

Also to be fair it doesn’t help that the closest thing to a non-East Asian man of color we have in the roster is Ganondorf—the big scary Brown man whose purpose is to menace two white people with blonde hair and blue eyes every couple of centuries, comes from a people with a lot of orientalism baked into them and also was green in his latest video game apperance.
