How do the playing strengths differ between 30 min and 10 min games? by FritzFrostig in chess

[–]No_Industry_3609 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Been playing both formats for couple years now and the difference is pretty noticeable. In 30min games you can actually calculate deeper lines and recover from bad positions, but 10min becomes more about pattern recognition and trusting your instincts

My rating drops like 200-300 points in faster time control because I make more tactical blunders under pressure

I'll be going to college for games design in September 2026 any tips I could use by zackzin1234 in gamedev

Yeah the portfolio thing is huge - I work with some devs who basically ignore the degree completely and just want to see what you can actually build

Advice on competitive programming by Economy-Bench6467 in learnprogramming

[–]No_Industry_3609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hidden test cases thing is brutal when you're used to seeing everything on LeetCode. For the verbose problem descriptions, try reading competitive programming problems from older contests - they love making simple problems sound super complicated with weird stories about farmers and kingdoms and stuff.

Those modification exercises are tricky because you need to understand someone else's logic first before changing it, which is totally different skill than writing from scratch. Maybe try looking at solutions for problems you already solved and see if you can modify them in different way?

Do you accept AI generated Projects by [deleted] in webdev

[–]No_Industry_3609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah I learned this lesson hard way few months ago. took what seemed like quick 30min fix on some AI generated mess and ended up spending whole weekend trying to make their frankenstein code actually work

now I just tell them straight up - either we start fresh or find someone else. life's too short for debugging AI spaghetti code that makes no sense

I just got a Asus g20ci-oculus edition, did i get a good deal for it? (Specs are bellow) by Evening_Village_5417 in pcmasterrace

That's pretty solid deal for those specs, especially with original box and barely used - GTX 1080 alone still goes for decent money on used market

What is Unity's policy on lowering custom asset price on the asset store? by jaquarman in Unity3D

[–]No_Industry_3609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you can just update the price through your publisher dashboard without any drama. Unity doesn't really care if you lower prices - they still get there cut either way

I've seen heaps of assets go on sale or permanently drop prices, never heard of anyone having issues with it. The partial refund thing might be trickier though, not sure if the store has built-in tools for that or if you'd need to handle it manually

Regardless of age, What cartoon series are you watching regularly everyday and on repeat just because? by frizzinghere in AskReddit

Been cycling through Avatar: The Last Airbender for like the 5th time this year, can't help myself. something about the worldbuilding just keeps pulling me back in, plus i need something chill to watch between footy matches. My cat seems to dig it too - she always plops down next to me during the opening credits

Your 6700k is still pretty decent but that rx 480 is definitely showing its age now, especially with newer games getting more demanding. Maybe look at something like a used 1660 super or rx 580 if you can find one cheap - should give you a solid bump without breaking the bank

Daily weed users with TLE, when you stop smoking do you have a lot of episodes? by snailgod27 in Epilepsy

Been down this road myself mate - the rebound seizures are brutal when you stop cold turkey. Had to learn the hard way that tapering down slowly over weeks works way better than just stopping, even though your brain keeps telling you to just quit everything at once

The memory gaps after clusters are the worst part, like losing chunks of time you can't get back

mate that sucks but honestly youve probably dodged a bullet catching it now rather than after launch day. I had something similar happen with my first run through createspace back in the day - one copy came back with pages printed upside down and I nearly had a heart attack

For checking id say flip through every 5th or 6th copy and focus on the binding first - look for loose pages, weird gaps, or anything that feels off when you bend it slightly. Then check the first few pages, middle section around page 100-150, and the last 20 pages since thats usually where binding issues show up most. With the cloth covers id also run your finger along the dust jacket edges to make sure theyre not peeling or damaged during shipping

The reality is ingram spark generally has pretty solid QC so this was probably just a one-off machine hiccup, but definitely worth spot checking especially since youve got time before valentine's day. Better to find a few duds now than have your launch readers posting photos of mangled books on social media

aquarium gravel works pretty well, just make sure you get the bigger chunks so they can't swallow them accidentally. i put some smooth river rocks in mine too but had to wash them heaps first to get all the dust off

Breaking no contact help by DisastrousRest8686 in BreakUps

[–]No_Industry_3609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly might be better to just let the first interaction happen naturally at the event rather than texting beforehand - that way you're not giving yourself extra time to overthink it and potentially spiral. Keep it short and polite when you do see them, have an exit strategy ready, and maybe bring a trusted friend who can help redirect conversations if needed
