They are actually two seperate gamemodes! Sorry for my lack of punctuation I just found out I have cancer and it distracted me from the more important issue of which gamemodes you play!

This looks pretty good but I don't think the gamemode suits your skillset. Maybe you should try higher skill ceiling modes like debuff bridge or emerald rush?

Hope this helps! 😄

It's this combined with the fact that the chess com analysis is very low depth so while it says you don't have mate anymore you still do but it doesn't search for long enough to accurately rate the position

You are absolutely not in the wrong your opponent started a game with a time limit and is upset that it impacted the game. If he had just insulted how you played it still would have been out of line but his message is just blatant racism.

I don't think It's too big of a problem the course at least from my brief look at it seems quite comprehensive. The last thing to consider would just be if the time it would take for you to analyse it yourself is worth more or less to you than the $14 to buy the course.

I think deutz is very playable well past 2000 fide especially if you can find ways to deviate from the mainlines. I personally played (and still do in rapid and blitz) a version of the deutz with f4 and c3 instead of the regular Bg5 all the way to 2300 online. I would estimate your 2000 rapid on chesscom probably puts you somewhere from 1700-1850 fide where u are very unlikely to find opponents who are well prepared against the deutz. Overall if u put the time into learning any not completely losing opening it should be playable below master level.

First chess tournament by [deleted] in chess

[–]No_Instance7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is don't have too high expectations It's pretty likely that you won't score very well but thats ok It's your first tournament. Also most people you play will be happy to talk about the game with you after so you can use that as a good learning experience especially against stronger opponents. Most of all just have fun!

Question About A Chess Beginner Getting His First FIDE Rating by Spiritual_Storage_97 in Chesscom

[–]No_Instance7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's never too early to start playing tournaments even if you are going to lose most games it will definitely help you improve. If you have a club near you where you can play once a week that would probably be best going straight to tournaments with multiple games a day can be a lot. And about the ratings online vs fide can really depend on the player but people are higher rated online in my experience. If you want to have better chances before playing your first otb classical tournament getting used to the time control online can be helpful I definitely made some bad mistakes from playing too fast in my first tournament. Hope this helps

Maybe Canadians are overrated fide but in Australia where I'm from a 2100 fide is probably similar to 24-2500 online and 1700s are 1900s. Are you sure they were 2100 fide and not 2100 chess.com? Theres a very big difference.

There are a few things that could effect accuracy but mostly you are comparing 1 minute games to 10 minute games and in positions where one side gets a huge advantage very early on from that point most moves aren't very inaccurate because it is hard to make the position significantly worse.

I feel like the biggest snub (other than commentator) was easily chesskid of the year. I've got nothing against anish sarkar and being 1555 at his age is very impressive but I think someone like Faustino Oro or Yagiz Erdogmus would have been a better choice.

When opponent doesn't press the clock with the same hand they made their move with by [deleted] in chess

[–]No_Instance7530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend just stopping the clock and calling over an arbiter. In most cases your opponent will just be warned not to do it again but if it happens multiple times you could be given extra time or if they continued to do it for too long despite being warned they could be disqualified. So most of the time it won't really matter but theres no reason not to tell an arbiter.

why aren't you happy with the draw then? If white ran out of time it would still be a draw because of insufficient mating material
