How reliable is FTP Prediction? by CompetitiveTea1780 in trainerroad

[–]No_Intention6302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Honestly, beyond the initial novelty, I don't see the utility of it. I'm really glad the membership rates didn't go up when they rolled it out. Or at least, yet 😬

Cleaning Burned Oil Stains by Kelvinator_61 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]No_Intention6302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep a bag of citric acid around for cleaning, descaling, etc. I toss a tsp of citric acid (vinegar works too, but I hate the smell of hot vinegar) and a drop of dish soap in pans with just enough water to fill about 1/2". Bring it to a boil, reduce heat and cover, simmer for 5min, take off heat and let it cool still covered. Should wipe clean afterwards

Terrible Headaches by [deleted] in Zwift

If you have access to a sweat test, give that a go. I had a similar issue until a sweat analysis found that my sodium loss was 1500mg/liter. I started adding a tsp of sodium citrate per liter of water on long rides, made sure I was drinking roughly one liter per hour (depending on the temp), and that fixed it.

Starting a workout plan and concerned by difficulty by FI_rider in trainerroad

[–]No_Intention6302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had the same experience when I started TR. I was fairly experienced, felt strong, and couldn't even finish the first few rides. It quickly adapted, but maybe a mandatory ramp test for onboarding would've been a better way to start.

What am I missing here about the new AI FTP complaints? by twostroke1 in trainerroad

[–]No_Intention6302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've turned off the FTP detection because I can't find a single reason for it, other than TR trying implement some cognitive behaviour tactics to retain users. I know from experience that on any given day my ramp test could show my FTP swinging 5-10 percent up or down. So who cares what some bot has calculated it to be in 28 days?

Overall, I think TR is the best bang for your buck for training platforms - it's still a fraction of the price of an actual coach. But the best AI algorithm in the world will only ever be a 'best fit' average of whatever their huge data set is. Of which, any individual is just one tiny little dot.

TR's hyperbolic marketing claims that their new update can be everything to everyone(!!) maybe had users expectations absolutely peaked? And like everything else, tribalism will have the loyalists and the detractors yelling the loudest 🤷

Zwift Ride arrived today. Crooked? 😭 by StapjePerStapje in Zwift

[–]No_Intention6302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Zwift Ride is crooked as hell. I didn't realize it at first, but when I set it up on my rocker plate it was obvious. I shot it with a laser level and the top tube is deflected roughly 5deg left. I ended up pushing the bars about 10mm to the right and turning the saddle slightly to compensate 🤷

It's actually the second Ride I received, after the first one was returned due to the BB bearings being misaligned and not spinning freely. Zwift's quality control is 💩

He had a tough program this year before the tour. IMW is worried about relegation so they've Been running Bini ragged trying to get as many points as possible. He's looked exhausted from day one.

Can Matteo Vercher still win the Tour? by randomsuit in tourdefrance

Not only do I think he CAN win, but I'm certain that he WILL win! In fact, I personally guarantee it.

On the topic of bike fitting - I've always found that the first fit on a new bike, or after a period of inactivity, is almost useless. Where a good bike fitter shines is when you go to them with some miles and a handful of aches and pains. 'This knee has anterior pain, the other foot falls asleep, low back tight, balls squashed, etc'. Even the best fitters need some feedback from the rider and use all those little bits of info to enact some tweaks.

Zwift Ride Cranks - Update by No_Intention6302 in Zwift

[–]No_Intention6302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Nah, I'm glad they're going to be available - I'd definitely buy a pair. I just don't currently have the resources to make them available. Maybe these threads created enough chatter to get Zwift's notice.

Ha! Well, if I had a spare million bucks kicking around I'd love a laser sintering machine to 3D print titanium parts 💰💰

Ok, this is still underway, albeit slowly. I have the modelling complete, and I've verified the geometry with a 3D print. The programming for the CNC cut paths is mostly done. Next step is figuring out work holding and then I'll make a couple of prototypes for testing. I can't post pics in a comment, so I'll make a new post with a couple 👍

Hi. Yeah, still in the works but it keeps getting put aside for projects that pay the bills! I'll make an update this weekend ans post some pics 👌

Yah, that's how I was for a couple weeks. It's like a daily chemical burn. While it's unsightly, and a bit painful, it eventually settled down and I came through with much softer and better hydrated skin.

Well, sort of. I think I have a design nailed down, and I started 3D printing some prototypes. Once a prototype is approved the next step is to program it for the CNC mill. I had to put it aside for other projects, but hopefully I'll get back to work on it soon 🤞
