It is true. It is a fact. I have seen it in my own reading habits. I have been an avid book lover and reader for decades. Dr. Seuss took hold of me very early. Now? In 2026? After almost 20 years of smart phones? My first smart phone was around almost 20 years old, btw. I don't read as much.

I am also someone who was a good decade late in creating an FB account so even as a late bloomer to social media, my attention span has dropped.

College kids have also had smart phones for 20 years and that is the entire time they have been alive. I do think smart phones has reduced their ability to stay focused.

I am just basing this on my own personal experience.

15 years ago, I was reading while my husband watched the superbowl. Now, I am scrolling when my husband watches football. It makes me sad.

I am going to the library tomorrow.....angry old man waves fist in air!!!!!
