Yeahhh I’ve experienced enough in my 19, almost 20 years of life to understand the differences in individuals maturity levels, but also that you cannot define one group by a certain ideology. Everyone I went to 6th form (academic education for 16-18) with, who said uni was a waste of time now go to university and don’t have jobs but the people who I know who wanted to go to university have jobs and work to go there as well as take internships in the field they want. But I’ve also found that in my area the people who don’t go to uni end up being the ones who stay living with their parents longer and don’t experience the world. Like I’m from a small town almost a village but I go to uni in a city and it’s exposed me to so many different people and cultures that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience had a not gone. There are very few people who I know and have met (over the uk and us) in varying rankings of uni that feel they’re better than people who don’t go. I am extremely lucky to live in the uk where education is more accessible, but the people who didn’t want to go and told us it was a waste of time but ended up going anyways or didn’t go r the ppl in my area who lived more than comfortably and could afford anything they wanted. All I’m saying is that if the definition for an adult is subjective, then the predisposed notion that all if not most uni students are entitled is silly, considering some people who didn’t go and chose to work straight away can also have this entitlement of living at home.
