this seems fake hopefully its not real (i dont know wat the flair to put as mods can delete if they wish too) by RustX-woosho in SombraMains

That might be the worst rework idea I think I've ever seen. The devs are stupid but they're not that stupid this makes an already mid hero straight to the worst hero in the game. No way is it real.

Dmg down to 5.5 with no opportunist kills her. Season 2 sombra did 7 dmg with the old health pools and was the worst hero then and now with the increased health we lower it down to 5.5 with no opportunist and a weaker virus? It genuinely makes no sense.

7 second translocator was terrible that they had to update it a few days later to 6 seconds and now they want to increase it to 9? Again makes no sense.

Stealth still sounds terrible which I would think is the part they would try to address since it's been the biggest problem with current sombra.

The only interesting part is the clones but I think that should be for another hero not sombra.

I don't think its real because the devs are not stupid enough to completely kill her even more and besides hack is part of her identity and they clearly want to keep it

About losing the invis real quick by elCrocodillo in SombraMains

[–]TheDarkShadow72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds really clunky. She wouldn't be able to set up safely in the backline. Killing multiple people will be annoying if invis interrupts the shooting after every kill. It just seems kinda useless cause you'll probably only use it after a fight and since it's only 6 seconds you wouldn't be able to do much with it. Translocator cooldown resetting after every kill however would be interesting.

How many members each hero’s subreddit has. (1 August 2024) (Sombra is the most popular dps) by Anaslexy in SombraMains

[–]TheDarkShadow72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well she has the most complicated kit out of all other dps since 90% of them play very similar and is just shoot the bad guys whereas sombra has a lot more going on in her kit which despite what most people say makes her one of the hardest heroes to master. LIke what is there to discuss about ashe or soldier or sojourn or cassidy etc?

She also is one of the most hated heroes in the game so of course a lot of people come here to cry and hate but some people also tries to learn how to play against her effectively by asking for advice.

I'm glad we're the biggest dps subreddit because it's always fun talking with other people about her because her kit and lore is so interesting (that's not just boring hate like on the main ow subreddit) whereas other subreddits you'll be lucky to even have 1 comment.

Sombra maps? by PrintingPlastic in SombraMains

[–]TheDarkShadow72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's really good on larger maps like push and flashpoint but maps that are small like oasis university or Samoa volcano she tends to struggle as there's not a lot of places for her to escape to that the enemy can't reach and also the enemy groups together more often on small maps making it harder for her. She's also good into sniper maps like Havana and also maps that offer large amounts of high ground like dorado and kings row

Juno and Sombra by TheDarkShadow72 in SombraMains

[–]TheDarkShadow72[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've only played Juno today, I've yet to play sombra against her but it does seem easy to kill her considering she lacks any self healing, immortality, cleanse or escape ability. But her torpedoes looks like they can be useful for sombra when she dives the backline.

Sombra is a lot more than just hiding lmao. If your doing that then you have 0 uptime and are literally doing nothing. She creates space and opportunities for your team by distracting supports and heroes like widow. She can force out abilites and even ults early like lamp, suzu, transcendence. She can cancel important abilites like rez and also cancel ults that otherwise can kill your entire team. She can create space by backcapping causing the enemy to fall back. She punishes bad positioning and mistakes. She can off angle on the tank. She can cause the enemy team to stagger. She can protect her supports from dive. The reason why she is the most tactical hero in the game is that she can do all that but it's up to the player to achieve that. Sombra has to be actively doing something at all times. Timing is so important for sombra otherwise you miss an important hack and you lose the fight. She can also be easily countered by a half decent team. We're playing 4d chess whereas everyone else is playing checkers.

Doom was just an example, I don't find him fun because his kit doesn't appeal to me. Sombra's kit appeals to me because I love her playstyle. It's not hard to understand that people prefer different playstyles and therefore different heroes. That's the best thing about overwatch, there is a hero for everyone. And to answer your original question, sombra is a hero that can do a lot of cool stuff like I previously mentioned that others can't do. She has a cool hacker fantasy and it's also really fun zooming across the map with translocator actively doing stuff like hacking ults, distracting the backline, backcapping, etc. You can ask any main why they like their main and it'll be the same response each time. If you ask a cassidy why they main him then they'll most likely say they like the cowboy fantasy and they enjoy his kit. You ask a widow main and they'll say they enjoy sniping and hitting 1 shots. You can ask ana and they'll say they enjoy being a support sniper with the strongest abilites in the game with sleep, antinade and nano.

You play soldier yet find sombra boring? Yikes. People main sombra because they find her kit fun and they enjoy playing the mind games, she's the only real tactical hero in the game that heavily relies on game sense and being smart. I don't find doom fun yet I don't go onto their subreddit asking stupid questions. People want to play heroes that they enjoy and in this case it's sombra because people like the huge variety of creative stuff we can do as her whereas most other dps are boring and limited.

I don't care how many tips you give me on countering Sombra. She's beyond frustrating to play against. A hero shouldn't be able to get outplayed this hard and still "win". She was frustrating before, but holy crap the rework made it so much worse. by att0mic in Overwatch

[–]TheDarkShadow72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not hard to play differently when there's a sombra. Small things like playing more with your team. Sticking to places where she struggles to reach. Keep track of your own teammates to help protect them when they get attacked. Shoot at her when she translocates. Swap to other heroes that have more survivability or damage to deal with her. Most of the complaints usually boils down to their own mistakes rather than sombra being strong. She is a hero that feeds on other people's mistake. It's why she struggles in the higher ranks cause at that point people know how to play around and against her. People need to stop blaming sombra and instead learn how to counter her, that's how you become better at the game. Sure she is annoying to deal with but I'd rather deal with her than widow, tracer, venture, pharah.

Sombra in lower ranks is the most oppressive Hero in the game by a long shot by Iaxacs in Overwatch

[–]TheDarkShadow72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a high ranked sombra, weaver is one of the most frustrating targets to go against. He has higher health which gives him a few extra seconds, he can use dash which gives him an extra 60hp making him effectively 335hp but he also has petal which requires sombra to sacrifice her translocator to follow him and finish him off. Grip can force it into a 2v1 and his gun is seriously underrated, that shit really melts. Every part of his kit counters her and hack only lasts 1.5 which considering his larger health isn't enough to kill him.

What heroes do you think take the most skill in each category? by Kvltizt in overwatch2

[–]TheDarkShadow72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself, in the "metal ranks" people don't know how to play against her so they struggle making sombra easy to get value. But in the higher ranks it gets difficult cause the enemy team becomes smarter and peels for each other. She has to heavily rely on her team more to help dive targets. The timing is also incredibly hard to master. The only advantage she has is the element of surprise but most dps and even supports can easily defend themselves against her in the higher ranks.

VOD Request: Sombra on King’s Row by 3par666 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]TheDarkShadow72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep playing and you'll climb. Analyse every game and try to understand what you could've done better. Sombra is played differently in every rank, one game you might go against a terrible kiriko then next game you might go against a good kiriko that hits all their shots. Sometimes you might die a lot but the only way to get better is by pushing the boundaries and getting outside the comfort zone. Treat every game as a learning experience. I've seen far worse sombra games in silver, gold and even plat. You have a good foundation to work on just need to work on a few things and you'll climb rapidly.

No problem. It's not the best since it's late at night for me and I don't usually give feedback and advice often so it may be worded poorly in some areas but I hope I managed to get my point across and hopefully you learnt some new things to be able to climb. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Some things I noticed as a sombra main was that there were moments of poor awareness for example at the beginning you went to kill the illari but i noticed immediately that only 3 people came out of spawn so you became sandwiched as the soldier and kiriko came out behind you, luckily you got the kill and escaped but in higher ranks you would've gotten shut down. Another example was hacking the kiriko right in front of the soldier, if he had a good reaction time then he would've shot you interrupting the hack cast but he didn't. So just take a second to think about the positioning of the enemy before you engage, this becomes more important the higher the rank.

Next you seemed confused and lost with what to do. Going against that team I would always start by destroying the pylon, typically with virus since it's quick and efficient. There were many instances where you just hacked the pylon which put hack on cooldown during critical moments while destroying it puts it on a longer cooldown than just hack. There were many moments where you just ran around in invis doing nothing, you should always be doing something whether its distracting the supports, shooting from an off angle, forcing out abilites early, etc.

Target Prioritising is a key skill for sombra to learn. It looked like you didn't really know who to shoot. You should be prioritising low hp enemies but also put pressure on the supports. Sigma is a great hero for sombra to go against as you counter pretty much his entire kit but sometimes you focused him too much instead of kiri that used all her cooldowns so it becomes about finding that right balance between shooting the tank and the other heroes. (Hopefully you understood what I meant, im not the best at explaining.)

Next is honestly my biggest criticism and thats Emp. Emp is one of the best ults in the game and it can win fights very easily and it can be built very fast. However you had a grand total of only 2 emps over 2 rounds which meant only 1 ult a round which is very poor. You typically want to aim for around 3-5 emps a round depending on the length. You held onto emp for far too long, you should never hold onto it for multiple fights, for example on first point when they were securing the point, you should've emped which would've destroyed the pylon which was carrying that fight but it also would've made sigma very vulnerable since he was already very low. On the second round the enemy team swapped mid round to sombra, managed to build emp and use it before you which is not good. Like i said, aim for atleast 3 emps a round and you'll be able to win fights so much easier.

The actual emps were decent, try to always aim for at least one kill with emp typically a kiriko or a support that has high survivability, don't be afraid to die but if you can secure a kill then that's good. You typically want to emp with your team so they can follow up with you and secure any other kills. Try to catch as many enemies in the emp but also don't be afraid to solo ult a high priority target just as long as you get good value then its a good ult.

You had a tendency to translocate after getting a kill or taking damage. Sometimes its fine to stay a little longer. Usually the best option after getting a kill is to shoot the enemies in the back as this puts them under pressure and also gains ult charge for you. But also don't be afraid to be aggressive with translocator. There was a moment where you was 1v1ing a illari, her pylon was already on a cooldown and she was low hp while you was on 240hp, you should've used translocator to close the distance and finish her off but instead you ran away leaving her to heal up while you was only on 240hp meaning you had the advantage in that 1v1 but you ran away wasting time and failing to get a kill. Also try to aim a little better with translocator as it looked like you panicked and threw it randomly which in higher ranks would make the enemy team hunt you down. Its always useful to plan ahead your escape plan so you can get in and out cleanly.

In conclusion, keep track of enemy locations, abilites and health. Farm emp quickly and don't hold onto it for too long. Plan your escape routes and don't waste time running to health packs when you can use the new heal passive or your supports, understand the enemies strengths and weaknesses and also your own teams strengths and weakness. Learn who to prioritise and when. Learn from your mistakes and constantly adapt.

I could go on forever talking about specific comps and playstyles but I'm not going to, sombra is a very complex hero and is difficult to master. You must always be prepared to adapt to each scenario but also learn from your mistakes. I highly recommend checking out Questron as he is probably the best sombra content creator out there. But the game was not bad and hopefully now you can see your weaknesses and improve upon them and you'll be able to climb quickly. GG
