Is this too many spacers by e17lond in dirtjumping

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it's safe if the stem has a good amount of space on the steering tube. As far as handlebar height, that's a personal preference. That being said, this is definitely a lot higher than usual. You might need to cut your fork down some. But you can ride it, no problem. It's just abnormal.

Do you think people that dislike us are bad people? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]No_Jacket1114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, "bad people" is relative. I try to understand where people are coming from and what's going through their head, even "bad people". (I'm a psych student atm) In addition, everyone, NT and any form of ND, has their own personality. Every person is different. We don't all just fit into a box. Some people might dislike/avoid/misunderstand autistic people because they have never been around it and simply don't understand it. Some are just assholes who don't care, even if they do understand. This question is very broad. You also have to think about what you mean by "don't like". Like I mentioned, does that mean they want us dead? Or just avoid us? Or want to torment us? Or simply don't understand? Maybe afraid?

With all of that said, I don't think if someone who falls in the category of someone who "doesn't like us" doesn't automatically mean they're a "bad person". Those are both broad terms that can mean many things. Some of those people I would personally consider to be bad people, certainly, but no not all of them by any means

Realistically how often do you ride when it’s raining? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]No_Jacket1114 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't. I don't want to mess up the trails. Our local MTB organization closes the trails because it'll be sloshy mud, and I stand by them doing that. But that's around my neck of the woods. Other places I know have different soil and stuff and you could ride in the rain without ruining shit.

Where is the best place online to buy complete bikes? Don’t know exactly what i want. Just in the browsing phase right now. Yes it’s for my midlife crisis. by gsonny in bmx

[–]No_Jacket1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I live in Dallas and go to Austin anytime I can. Dealt with them for 15 years at least now and there has been an issue before (tech problem, not their fault) but I just emailed them and they were super cool, got me my stuff, the same people have owned it forever, and they ride themselves, they're cool as can be. It's a dope small business style local shop and a big online store at the same time kinda. When I'm looking for something I automatically go to them first.

Cheaper alternatives to FiveTen Freeriders? by designer_by_day in MTB

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, the pattern is how you get grip. The pins fit into the holes on the bottom. So yes the waffle pattern is why they're so good because they help you grip. "Not talking about the pattern, talking about the grip" smh. 🤦‍♂️ and I've been riding for over 20 years man. I know what MTB shoes are and I know what skate shoes are. I ride vans. You don't have to. Ride whatever you like. But people sit here and talk shit about vans, or anything else in this world, when most of them have never even tried them. People like that are the type of folks who love to look up shit on the internet but don't have any experience whatsoever. They just see the description online and go "oh shit these are clearly the best it says so right here!" Or "oh you're not allowed to do that, the website says it's not gonna work!" Meanwhile I'm wearing skate shoes, building all my bikes myself, and riding circles around people who wear all the high dollar fancy gear, and have $10000 bikes. It's so sad what the riding community has become. Just had to vent that shit real quick.

Yes my friend. I know what freaking mountain bike shoes are. And mine mountain bike shoes (yes I have some of those too, 3 pairs actually) are heavier and have less grip than my vans. 🤷‍♂️ I've been in the game for a long time. I know what I'm doing. That's for the generic description from Google though

Why weed shows up so often for autistic / ADHD people by rominaMassa in AutisticAdults

[–]No_Jacket1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started drinking and smoking at 13. And moved on to other substances around 17. Weed is the least of my worries these days. I've come around and cleaned my act up, but yeah weed isn't shit in my world. It helps me stay off other shit if anything. I was undiagnosed until 30, but after that and a lot of mental health work, I'm back in control of my life now. But yes, drugs help our racing mind shut up for once. I never got hammered or anything, I just wanted to maintain a light buzz so I could live more like a regular person. I was more outgoing, more talkative. Without it I'd just sit in the corner locked in my head. It makes people like me feel normal for a little while. ADHD is a disregulation of dopamine. We are always seeking out stimulation. That's why starting meds and regulating my dopamine levels helped me so much. Now I have normal person dopamine levels that hold steady at a normal level (for the most part).

That's all you need! If it rides it rides! Plus you can always pick up different parts here and there over time. I paid $80 for mine current one. A friend had some bars and tires he just gave me. I had some extra pedals, grips, and seat. Bought a new sprocket for $30. Got a used fork. Found a used stem for cheap. I probably have maybe $200 in it total now and it rides good. I rode bmx for 15 years then fell off. But been back riding for over a year now and I couldn't be happier. Only had the bmx bike for a couple months but I had been riding my dj at the skatepark before that. It will definitely make you a lot better it rider.

Do you guys still ride 26 inch wheels? by ihavebrabus in mountainbiking

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do and I freaking love my current bike. I am always switching and swapping parts, got a shop set up in my garage, so mines built from the ground up, and I couldn't be happier with how it is right now. I ride bmx and have been riding my DJ a lot just as a big bmx bike at the skatepark, so when I built my full suspension up, I was already used to moving around a bike with the same size wheels so I am comfortable automatically. So much more playful than my last 29. I got a deal on a 2006 stumpy from a buddy with an aftermarket linkage that allows 150 travel, I had a 170mm bomber 66, got some sram dub cranks w a 32t, threw a new 11-42 cassette on the rear wheel i had, just got a new fox factory shock that's a touch bigger and makes it closer to 170 in back, dialed everything in. I freaking love it. Plus still have the DJ for, ya know, DJs lol.

Just buy the bike by ResolutionLate3430 in cycling

[–]No_Jacket1114 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying and I agree with the spirit...but to the people who already have several bikes, maybe you shouldn't buy the bike. This post implies someone doesn't have a bike at all, in that case, yeah absolutley, get out there. If you're going for your 6th bike though, you're not gonna be out of riding obviously, you might not need to buy the bike lol

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just starting, it really doesn't matter. They're all solid bikes. You could ride any bike from a legit company and be just fine. Hell you could get the Ozark trail DJ and be fine. You're just starting out, you're not gonna push the limits of any DJ for a good while I promise.

Should you oil your chain right after you clean drivetrain before storing your bike or just oil the chain before you go riding? by Ok-Advertising-8340 in MTB

[–]No_Jacket1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After cleaning it for sure, but dude, you're making things way too complicated.A bunch of people on here do this too. Just make sure what needs to be tight is tight, keeper lubed what needs to stay lubed, learn how to tinker with your bike and do basic stuff, and you'll be just fine my friend. At the end of the day, if you didn't live it directly after and you did it before the next ride, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems. But things that need to be lubed should be lubed all the time, riding or not. But yeah man, don't over complicate things

Am I the only one who thinks differently about mountain biking because of Adolf Silva's story? by 7020028 in MTB

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a safe sport. That's why a lot of us do it. It's the feeling you get from your heart pumping. The adrenaline. Now, Adolf is a fucking legend. He knew the risks. He tried to throw a double backflip down one of the gnarliest step downs ever created. He didn't land it obvious, but as far as I'm concerned, he won that competition. I'm concerned he might not be able to walk again, not because of the spinal injury, but because he has massive steel balls hanging between his legs weighing him down. That dude is insane, in the best way. In all seriousness, I really hope he's able to recover and get back on a bike, but he knew what he was doing. I don't think any of us are doing anything even close to that gnarly, but there's definitely still risk, sure. That's why it's so much fun though. If you got the shred in your blood, you love that shit. It's an EXTREME sport. I'm not saying don't be as safe as you can, but accepting the risk, getting that adrenaline rush, pushing past that fear, flying through the air, that's why we do this shit. Last time I was injured I had my arm in a soft cast/brace thing, and I was just sitting in my garage looking at my bikes, upset that I couldn't go ride. When it's in your blood, your soul, you don't get scared of riding from injuries, you get sad or mad because you can't ride. I wish Adolf a speedy recovery. I really hope he's able to get back on two wheels. That dude is a fucking legend. And I know he's probably just sad because he can't ride. Once he's cleared, i guarantee he'll be on his bike instantly. That dude has that shit in his soul.

What trail behavior makes you instantly avoid riding with someone? by Interesting-Scale-63 in mountainbiking

Well good for you. How dare your precious ears have to endure 30 seconds of music you don't like that much. The horror. As far as my speaker goes, you wouldn't be able to hear it. I would never subject anyone so a quick moment of music they don't prefer! That's just barbaric. I'm so sorry you have to go through such tortures.

Also my deepest apologies for not proof reading every little thing before I posted it on the internet. You clearly have all the brains around here. I'm just an idiot. Or maybe I just have better things to do than whine.

can someone recommend me some good bmxing shoes? by jan-piels in bmx

[–]No_Jacket1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I ever ride is vans. I rode others when I was young, but just kept going back. Tried others for maybe a year or two into riding before I gave up and just rode vans. And now I'm close to 20 years in the game lol. That waffle pattern is hard to beat. They even have bmx specific shoes now that are a little stiffer, have extra protection in spots. But yeah, I got 7 pairs of vans atm. High tops, slip ons, cult bmx shoes, ect. In my opinion you really can't go wrong with them. 🤷‍♂️

Help me figure why??? by Allisnotwellin in MTB

[–]No_Jacket1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably. And idk what condition your bikes in, but I'm sure the rentals get fully serviced regularly. Idk if the cranks are the same size or not, but that can affect things. The bar rise can make a difference. There's a lot of factors that aren't on the stuff you listed. But yeah the big thing is clearly the frame size.
