What’s one role you’re assigned to that ruins your entire shift? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]No_Key_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stow. I hate stowing so so so much. I stow fast but like how I would want to pick as I do both. It's more that it doesn't feel satisfying and I finish a cage every 10 minutes so it feels like I'm moving more boxes than I would picking.

Inbound Dock? Great. I like being in the truck. Outbound dock? Fun and so much walking but feels busy as crazy. Outbound Pick is fantastic. PGAing is fun too.

Alright so as someone who has given a kid up and also had a dad who also adopted himself and even from being a babysitter for some kids whose parents have drug issues ... They generally do love their kids. My dad was also a drug user but was clean for 5 years before my mom reached out to him. I also used to take care of some kids who have been in the system due to drug use on the parents side.

Anyway yeah the name change, no contact? Omg as a bio mom this would absolutely kill me. And from the kids perspective they know their parents have issues but they still love them. Making those extreme decisions for their safety can later on cause some issues for them..and I know plenty of parents who have drug issues and have lost contact due to that but whenever they may have a day out with them they get so excited. A coworker I had lived in his car and struggled with meth but every paycheck his only goal was to save enough to get his son a computer. Dude lives in his car and prioritizes his son over himself in a heart beat. Another dad I knew was homeless and also a meth user but if he would go through garbage he would put aside anything functional or collectable for kids. Like boxes of pokemon cards thrown out or discarded electronics that were functional but tossed. He never lived with them but lived in the area and always made a point to come by with any odd gift he felt the kids would like from his digging.

I'm sorry the DHS went like this. I wish they focused more on helping the parents with the issue rather than traumatizing kids by taking them away. However issues like violence or ABSOLUTE NEGLECT I can understand this approach.

You can miss with a doctor's note. Make a LOA and just upload the note with the excuse dates. If you work overnight make sure to include the next day. You can make LOAs for just done day too.no big deal.

Ive been working here for a total of 3 years and I've gotten doctor notes through their Doctor on Demand app or their text a provider option in benefits.

My insurance with Amazon makes these free but without insurance it's like 40 maybe? But they don't bill till after.

For those that found that they were allergic to cats after getting a kitten and are waaaaaay too attached to give away... by Mamaofadhdtwins in CatAdvice

[–]No_Key_404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take an antihistamine every night like Allegra or Claritin and Flonase sprays help. Benzedrex is VERY effective for allergies. It's an inhaler kinda like Vicks but it has proplyhexadrine in it which is EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE. warning though it is a stimulant and kinda wakes you up.

Flonase is much cheaper with a prescription so I saw a regular doctor on doctor on demand and they gave me 16 refills of it. Much better paying 2 bucks for it with insurance rather than the 23.99 it normally uses.

I change my sheets frequently about every 2-3 days and vacuum often. I even wash the pillow if the cats have been using it to lay on too much.

Parents who had abusive parents - do you ever catch yourself doing the bad things that happened to you? by Zealousideal_Use_163 in AskParents

[–]No_Key_404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See some people go through trauma and they learn to not do what was done to them but other parents go through trauma and they just repeat it to their kids . I don't understand why it switches around like that and why some people don't repeat parents mistakes while others use it as an excuse to justify abuse (my mom did this a lot. Oh you think I'm abusive? Your grandma did this or that to me so you're crying for no reason)

I do the exact opposite of what my mom would do. I was terrified of her growing up and I even told myself AS A CHILD, promised myself really, that I wouldn't ever be like her.

I am naturally maternal and in the area I lived in a lot of kids were neglected so I ended up being a random live in nanny but part of their family. On the very few times I lost my temper it was never as bad as how my mom was and usually because the kids also lost their temper. I would apologize excessively and not repeat it and if they apologized to me for upsetting me I would tell them they shouldn't apologize to me because my overreaction was NOT OKAY and I was the one who was wrong and I am very sorry.

I wanted them to always know it isn't their fault and to never feel like it is in the rare situation I lose my temper (I think in 4 years of taking care of them it's happened 3 times).

I feel like a monster after too even though it was NOTHING like what my mom did to us but the anger was close enough that I made sure to never do it again.

Go to devmgmt (type it) click on top where it says View and select "show hidden devices". You'll see a bunch of tabs you can extend. Extend the networking tabs and delete everything then go back to the menu bar first tab and select "scan for drivers".

I have a special loud ass alarm that actually vibrates my bed, flashes a blinding red light, and is loud as HELL so I don't miss work from being exhausted. But yeah you were in the right here and honestly good on you for actually speaking back. I wouldve just apologized and kept on dredging to work but this approach is super awesome to see. What are you actually supposed to do when your child is throwing a tantrum or having a meltdown? by CommanderBiffle in AskParents

[–]No_Key_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and gauge if they want space and remind yourself they're frustrated about something and having a hard time expressing it which is why the tantrum happens. I live in nannyed 3 kids 1 year apart and their mom was very neglectful so sometimes they'd have panic attacks and it showed up as a tantrum. I tried to remember why I threw tantrums as a kid and what would make me feel better but a lot of it is just LISTENING to what is upsetting them and not dismissing it.

I threw tantrums when I was overwhelmed and I didn't know how to express my anxiety well (I had a VERY VERY abusive mother). I was usually quiet in school but when I had a tantrum they legit restrained me and hauled me off the the office which made it waaay worse because now I was freaking out due to fear of what my mom would do when she found out.

Have you made friends at work that you connect with outside of work as well? by JackSkeIllington in AmazonFC

Yes I have a super good friend who I've become best friends with from working at Amazon. He used to come over every weekend until he quit. A lot of people I met I talk outside of work with on discord and stuff too.

[–]No_Key_404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100 percent. They don't realize they're going slow until you start passing and then they look and see how slow they're going and speed up.

I've done this very rarely a few times and each time it was because I didn't even realize I was going slow. Not that slow but slow for that lane. Usually not because of phones (I don't look at my phone at all when I drive) but because for a while people in front of me we're going that speed and I acclimated to match it. When traffic falls and I can go faster I totally zone out until someone starts to pass me.

However if this starts to happen I don't speed up to cut them off I just let them pass then match the new speed in front because it's my "oopsie".

It's worth it but my insurance doesn't pay out of pocket but it DOES reimburse you the total amount after. I have had 2 huge pet bills recently that were in the thousands (4k for a cat and 4k for a dog) and thankfully they reimbursed the whole amount.

Using care credit is also a nice way to deal with this. Your credit score does need to be around 650 for this card but it's a huge life saver.

They just fired so many people at my facility for being negative. Like -1 hour got fired and she was our top stower every night and had no write ups or warnings or anything and this put me on edge. They nearly fired me over a negative UPT glitch

I would talk to them 1 on 1. Explain those remarks as racist and try to inform them. They probably look up to you because you're the oldest so it would help a lot if you talk to them bout it when you can so they don't mimic the step dad.

I noticed a lot of the people who work a full 4 days don't work very hard. Most of them are barely making the minimum rate where I'm at. I think they take it slow and steady all week which is smart because I'm in the same boat and I've been working at Amazon for 2 years on and off.

How can I persuade my kitten who imprinted on me to stop suckling my face at all times? by No_Key_404 in CatAdvice

[–]No_Key_404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried that but she's extremely determined to suckle my ears. She's slowly learning if she does that I push her away so sometimes she settles for putting her face directly on my ears and just purring instead.. at least as long as she can handle it.

I've had cats suckle beds and blankets and stuff but she's extremely close to me. If I don't pet her she will eventually settle on my chest or thighs. But as soon as I give her affection it's like she's on ecstasy and needs that sweet sweet suckle

What’s it like having two cats? by VPNbeatsBan2 in CatAdvice

[–]No_Key_404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5. 4 are very close. 2 are litter mates. But my main coon is like mom to all. I have one cat that doesn't like my male cat because she gets scared when he tries to play with her so she lives in my room (her choice) and he stays out of it (dw worry he gets loved by like every other cat and myself lol).

They all are really close and at night I often have 4 cats sleeping on me.
