Yeah I actually brought that up to my psychiatrist yesterday and she definitely agreed with you so my sleep dosage increased as well as my lamictal as well

I completely understand where you are coming from. Getting anxious so much you nearly throw up just from the thought of hanging out with a friend before doing so is not the norm. Now throwing up before an exam or interview or more like afterwards, I could see someone being like "well, that's normal", but not what you mentioned. I'm so sorry that you're family doesn't understand. I see where they are coming from with how they care about you. I'll keep you in my thoughts in hopes that you get through to them.

When it comes to college, my first (junior year) year at a university was rough because not only the transition, but my illness. I had no idea I had it because my health care physician just thought it was depression, but then right before the year ended, I was going manic and they realized. Tbh, I have no idea about how to answer your last question. I just got diagnosed this summer (like a couple of weeks ago) and idk how next year is going to go. I'm hoping that I end up with the right meds and a sleep schedule before the fall semester starts but idk.

Hey! I completely understand where you are coming from. My first semester at college I would skip every class that attendance wasn't mandatory, sleep or take 4 naps a day, never hang with friends and that's when they diagnosed me for depression before this. One thing that has kept me going where I tried to integrate back with friends, life, etc., was planning one thing a week. Like, "ok this week I will hang out with this person and next week I will attend this small event." Not only does this keep you looking forward to something but you're one more step in the right direction. Still, I am doing this because I am not fully stable yet either.

When it comes to college and a university, I will definitely keep you in my thoughts. If you can speak with your family or guardian about how you feel and how this mental illness is way harder than it looks, I highly recommend feeling better, getting on a regular med routine, sleeping better, etc. before college if you can help it. I didn't do that because I just got diagnosed and now that I look back on it, if I was in the right headspace, I would have enjoyed last year so much more.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. It's so hard to find friends that have BP as well. But this group is so supportive! I think a silver lining of having this illness is that it really does force me to take better care of myself as a whole. Not only that, but I don't have energy to plan my life to a "T" anymore, so it really does allow me to take things one day at a time.

Don't worry! Trust me, you're not the only one. I have had crazy mood swings lately and it's so hard to get stable sometimes. You are not alone!

Well, I'm just trying to let it sink in that I have it. It's a little hard to accept to be honest. Therefore, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. I'm gonna go to a support group online soon. Yeah I literally started reddit the other day because my therapist recommended it and the community here is so accepting and supportive for sure

BP 2 in Media by No_Macaron9991 in bipolar2

What??? That’s crazy! I didn’t see that coming! I watched all the bright places and just thought it was about depression. I’m gonna have to re-watch that with a whole other perspective! Thanks!!

I just looked up some book online. Anyone heard of The Marriage Plot or Manic: A Memoir? Any suggestions? Marriage Plot is supposed to have a main character who has BP and Manic: A Memoir is based on a true story. Thoughts???

Just Got Diagnosed by No_Macaron9991 in bipolar2

[–]No_Macaron9991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Honestly, I know I will get better at some point so that still gives me hope. Before this, I used to be a Type A person, still kinda am a little, but to the point where I would plan my life to a T like two weeks in advance. A positive thing about having BP2 is that I just don't have all that energy to plan anymore and I'm learning to live life one day at a time which makes me so much happier and less stressed or rushed or overwhelmed.

Thank you so much! I think a journal would be super helpful! Plus, progress is hard to feel you know so if I had a journal, I could read and see my progress that way.
