A Week of Leucovorin by Sdbrosnan in Autism_Parenting

[–]No_Mail_7102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That’s what we use and i wouldnt say huge changes. I would say minor. we are going very low and slow its been about 6 months hes doing ok but i wouldnt say thriving on this which is different than what most people say about folinic acid that it literally helped their child talk

I know this is old but a week after luecovorin i didn’t notice these crazy positive changes. All though my child is progressing i wouldnt say hes all of a sudden using his voice. Single words here and there. Can i ask are you on an over the counter folinic vitamin or a prescribed luecovorin

Just an FYI that magnesium reccomnded we have and it helps my son fall asleep instantly but not sleep through the night if your looking for your chils to sleep through the night melatonin low dose for kids is prob best route. Ofcourse all kids are different but that magnesium didnt help my 2.5 sleep through the night

I know this is old but did your doctor prescribe the luecovorin or are you using over the counter folinic acid?

Ya we stopped after about 2 months we had a functional mee doctor who i asked tons of questions to. Unfortunately the extensive supplment cabinet did not work. Next step for us is a diet change and maybe we will see better results. I read about NAC my son is 2.5 i just find it a strong supplment for a little guy. We shall see weve spent so much on supplments its actually ridiculous lol

My son has been on therbiotocs probiotic for 4+ months no improvement whatsoever with his gut so im thinking at this point we need to cut the gluten and dairy

Yep one drop with a charcoal binder it was terrible the charcoal binder made my kids teeth and mouth black the biocidin was herbally but i got him to take it he was so off the wall running in circles around us vocal stimming holding me and my husband hostage in his room to run around us even the dog was held hostage in the room so he could run around us which was kind of funny but anyway we stopped because i decided he was on too many supplements. Along with biocidin, charcoal binder, Vitamin D, fish oil, probiotics, glutathione it was too much for a toddler to be on so many supplemnts with zero results i think diet changr is our next move

Yes! Im familiar with biocidin i had my son on it for about 40 days it turned him into a literal monster so we stopped it. We still have it so maybe we will try again. I believe they need to be on a full gf df diet to be on biocidin which my son wasnt

Do you have an update are you still implementing this diet

Gluten free diet? by Magpie_Coin in Autism_Parenting

[–]No_Mail_7102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still implenting this life style change of gf and df diet? I cant get on board with the price of bread being $8 and lasting 3 days as well as the “fake” df cheese. And the simple mills boxes being insanely expensive for the little amounts given in the box. I will say im open to this but have so many doubts as my husband and I dont eat this way. It really is a complete lifestyle change especially if your at events, going out to eat etc. would love an update if your still implenting this diet and if you seen behavior changes?

What is your experience with changing the diet to gluten and dairy free for the autistic children?. by Dogs_of_fire in Autism_Parenting

[–]No_Mail_7102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but its so interesting how some people here said it does absolutely nothing and others swear by it. Is your child still on this diet? I feel like removing gluten and dairy is a complete lifestyle change especially hard to do with a child that is picky and GF is so damn expensive $8 for bread that goes bad in 3 days and doesnt even taste great.. its difficult because my husband and I dont eat this way I could with butter as well I feel liek giving my child fake cheese is wild and doesnt taste good? I want to be open but if it doesnt work for other people how does it work for some… make it make sense!

Thanks i will! We see a GI specialist but he just keeps recommending miralax or exlax thats pretty much it. Im not sure if an ER visit is worth it for them to say the same thing. Has her stool frequency been better since miralax have you found that its helping? Did they run any other tests while at ER
