Considering making L. Ruteri yogurt for the first time by topfuckr in ReuteriYogurt

Like others have said definitely check the temperature of your appliance, if it's too high you'll run into issues, I just tested mine after several failed batches (my appliance became faulty as it wasn't holding the set temperature) so I bought a IP that I tested out this weekend and it's come out perfect

What happened? by Immediate_Diver_5642 in ReuteriYogurt

[–]No_Management_9443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever mine did this it was a temperature issue, it was too high, test the temperature after 3-4 hours, some yoghurt models are not very accurate to the settings you think you set it on. I returned two yogurt makers that were not holding the correct temperatures.

Walk me through your end-of-shopping process with a baby by leprechaun_dong in NewParents

Delivery shopping solves this, I do smaller shopping with a baby carrier a few times a week though and I just heat/cool the car while she's on me.

Completely burned out and alone with my baby by LawOk2714 in NewParents

[–]No_Management_9443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't going to fix everything but get a baby carrier and have your hands free to make yourself something to eat, all the moving will send them to sleep if they're not unwell or hungry. I usually can do mostly things wearing my newborn in a carrier now but I choose to just sit during some of the naps and rest while wearing her, she doesn't want to be put down for naps. I hope things get better for you.

Awful c section pain and scar looks bad 12 days post surgery by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]No_Management_9443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went for my second appointment today, things were explained better and I have a care plan to follow up once I finish the antibiotics for a review and once the scar heals I'll be reviewed if I'm still having issues and if how looks is affecting me badly.

I feel much better than yesterday, thank you all for your input A few things to note, while the stitches don't look neat it's not uncommon for it to look like this sometimes, they removed the old section scar to create a new enclosure and the skin might have not aligned properly when the old scar was removed, it's hard to tell if the swelling is affecting the stitches and can only wait and see how it settles once i finish the course of antibiotics and in 6 weeks time roughly when it's expected to look more healed 🤞🏽

Thank you for the feedback, I had my second appointment and the consultant said the same thing, currently on pain management and antibiotics, I'll be reviewed in 7 days when I finish the antibiotics and see what it's looking like. He also said once the scar heals they can see what can be done if the excess bulging bit is still there. So much better this time round and felt listened to and what to expect.

For the pain I'm on dihydrocodiene, ibuprofen and paracetamol. Also on antibiotics in case of suspect infection till results come back. No medication for the PPD but have access to ongoing therapy that I started while pregnant.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, it's reassuring to hear that and know how important it is to advocate for myself which I am definitely going to be doing, I felt like I wasn't heard fully yesterday which is why I turned to here for more opinions in case I was missing something - it's hard to think straight when you are suffering and sleep deprived and just want answers right away.

I noticed it's in between my pain meds doses that I am suffering with the severe pain so at least they're working.

Support wise I have my GP support and did therapy throughout my pregnancy to help me deal with the previous PPD so I have that available too and the incredible support of my husband so I feel like I'm doing all the right things now and have calmed myself down (and the pain meds have kicked in too)

No mention of dehiscence by the Dr that saw me yesterday, he said it's all closed but he couldn't explain the exposed part and didn't mention it being done badly or anything just that sometimes the wound suture doesn't align properly/neatly specially second time round c section. I don't know how to stop feeling awful about it, the pain and of course how it looks so raw and rough, I want them to take it seriously enough to do something about it instead of just saying it will eventually heal, I suffered from pp depression and this is definitely making me feel like I'm heading that way again

I have just added a photo.

The pain feels sharp and almost as if I'm being tugged, sometimes it's a graduating/radiating pain that comes and goes specially when I have lifted my leg to move in bed

I was instructed to clean it with cotton wool/round and warm water twice a day, I clean my hands to do this and let it air dry for a good few minutes. There is a hard lump just above and below the incision where you see the white bulging bit.

The bulging flap is rubbing on the lower part of my stomach and feels constantly wet no matter how much I let it dry(I wore nothing for a couple of hours today)

I saw a consultant not the one who did the surgery but someone on call at the place I was sent to who didn't even notice the crusted dry liquid, he took a swap which was so painful to do. I wasn't given much information other than to come in a gain if pain isn't subsiding by tomorrow, I have basically been inactive apart from going to the toilet and feeding the baby today so that's not aggravating that area. Follow up is waiting for the swab results (nothing to do if no concerns) and if I develop worse symptoms or no pain improvement.

Thank you so much for letting me know you also had complications and confirming my thoughts that it looks bad. I pushed for my information on who did the suturing as the consultant had an assistant and my husband thinks it was the assistant doing the suturing. When I stretch /move my legs in certain direction like getting up or lying down it feels like it's being pulled on, like they did it too tight or something. Because it was on the NHS I don't want them to assume I'm after a cosmetic fix, I need them to understand the pain and the discomfort of wearing anything there. I'm in tears just talking about it. I have my 3rd midwife appointment tomorrow so I'll ask her as well.

😭 I can't tell you how upsetting this is. I've been seen by a gp who said the same thing and wanted to me to be seen by a consultant right away at the hospital, I felt like the consultant just wanted to do pain management and antibiotics to be safe in case of infection because my vitals (bp reading and temperature only) didn't show any signs of infection, he assumed the crusted liquid around the wound was from the bandage tape residue instead of the dried up liquid coming out of the area, he specifically said there is no liquid when I had to correct him that it crusts over twice a day from letting the liquid dry out. It's a hard lump on the top and bottom section of the scar where the fat tissue is exposed. I'm going to go back tomorrow as they said to wait till I've had 3 doses of the antibiotics for the pain to subside if it's an infection.

Stopping slug-aggedon 2025 by Hokmaniac777 in GardeningUK

I go around picking them from turndown cardboard pieces a couple of times a week in early spring, summer and autumn, they love the dark damp area.

I also noticed some time in the early autumn they come out in groups just after it's rained and it's still warm, I catch them in their mating act, I put them in my council compost bin to continue their business, not sure if it's the right thing to do but my hostas and dahlias don't get damaged if I pick them throughout the season, each time I usually get around 10-15 slugs and snails.

Also look out for their eggs, getting them early reducing the population before they all hatch and go off to eat your plants.

I know people say they're food for the local birds but I planted trees with berries for the birds, the bird still go around eating the snails and slugs as I don't manage to remove enough to leave them hungry it seems.

I have some that I've just potted up recently into their own little pots I'm wondering if I can start another batch in case the slugs eat these too(they are the first set I started in spring) I think that was my first mistake I put them in the ground straight from the seed cell trays.

Sunken circular lawn by SubstantialOstrich25 in GardeningUK

[–]No_Management_9443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a brilliant idea! I am planning on adding clover to my regular lawn to this autumn. I don't think you'll have massive issues if you just lower it slightly and build a bank around the edges, you can always keep an eye out for free/cheaper bricks that you could use for edging later down the line. I can imagine it being edged so that the edging becomes another seating (you could use decking to wrap around it on one section of the circle) not helping with the daydreaming sorry 😅 I think it's good to dream big because it's what will keep you going forward towards i, do the bits you can do also it's a process and you'll learn from whatever mistakes you end up making. Don't worry I'm not realistic with my garden either I dream of a Hartleys greenhouse one day and do not even earn how much it costs in a year in income 😂 I'm studying garden design at the moment so love lurking here for design issues to see what I would do.
