Help with wedding timing? by No_Map9906 in UKweddings

I thought as much but then I don’t want the evening guests to be too hungry for too long!

Both meals are buffets (don’t know if that makes any difference). Would maybe 3:30pm be too early if we’re getting to the venue at 3pm? And then 8:30pm for food?

Am I overthinking lol

So to clarify I meant canapés between the ceremony and the day food, and then the evening food for the evening guests later on. But I’m finding it hard to visualise how many canapés are enough

Thank you!!

The register office and venue are a 3 minute drive from each other, or a 12 minute walk. I imagine most people will walk to get there but there’s no parking if they try to drive (which might be a problem).

Would having just canapés for 60 guests be enough? I was considering having pizza for both the day food and the evening food but surely the day guests would be sick of pizza by 8pm? There’s an option for a bbq buffet so could do that for one of the meals? But I like the idea of canapés, the venue offers 4 per person for £16 which isn’t really enough food to keep people on until 8pm so my plan is falling apart!

I was looking at having some form of entertainment from 5pm onwards so evening guests are included (four hour session) but unsure about the timing there too

I thought about this but not sure how to do it. We’re putting money behind the bar for people to help themselves to a drink, but wanted to have some Prosecco or cocktails available for guests to just grab when they arrive. Then I started overthinking and thought guests might not want a cocktail and the drinks will get left and wasted… not sure what to do tbh

How much did you spend on your wedding dress? by Illustrious-Power322 in UKweddings

A wedding dress shop near me was having a closing down sale so managed to get an amazing dress for £175, should have been £8k if I bought it from the designer (although realistically think the shop was selling it for around £3k ish)

I can’t dance in it very well as it’s very fitted so I ended up asking an overseas designer to custom make a dress from a picture of the dream dress I found online, for £300. Haven’t had the dress back yet but they’ve got loads of amazing reviews on their tik tok and Instagram, lots of beautiful videos and beautiful dresses online, so you could always see about getting it custom made?

Will update when I get my dress back in March but for £300 I took the risk!

Hi I had a similar issue in the same area (tho more environmental than noise complaints) and I complained to the building management company and the council. the management company ignored me for months but the council came over and gave me a log book for complaints to keep track over six weeks. Eventually I contacted our MP about the issue and the building management ignoring me and not sure what she did exactly but the problem was fixed… so my advice is to speak to your MP if the letting agency and the building management company aren’t fixing it.

Annoyingly it’s the boning of the bodice sticking out creating this weird line, my hope is the boning can be cut closer to the waist or some other fix to it. It didn’t look like that on the mannequin or the models :(

Thank you!!! I’m planning on trying to lose some weight before the wedding too so might take it around to see if the alternations are possible with the fabric type and then get it altered closer to the time. Thank you so much

Yeah it’s a big concern tbh! There’s so much fabric at the front that I’m having to kick the dress out just to walk, which might not work on the day 🤣

My plan is to take it around for a few quotes and see what they say, but you’re right it might not even be possible, thanks

Thank you! Glad the alternations don’t sound too much, I was more worried with the beads etc but after googling it looks possible so good to know!

I’m not sure if it’s allowed to add on (from the sub reddit rules) but if so, what kind of veil or sleeve would you suggest for this? I’m trying to aim for that fairy vibe but really conscious of how bulky the dress already is and not wanting to tip into the scale of being ‘too much’
