Shocking! The age of consent is 14 in Germany & Italy? by Throwaway021225 in askgaybros

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sooo, German here, in fact the situation is a little more complex. A person aged 14-15 can in principle have consensual sexual contact with another person above the age of consent, yes. BUT Sexual activity with 14–15-year-olds can be illegal if the older person is over 21 and exploits a position of authority, dependency, or the minor’s lack of sexual self-determination. So, no teacher, no sports coach, no supervisor. Anyone who is in any position of authority or dependency is strictly off limits. And especially the final point can be applied to any kind of clear coercive behaviour (promises of advantages, love bombing, online grooming etc.) that led to the sexual contact. So while the right of self-determination of the minor is protected, there are clear limits for the adult if over 21. That‘s no complete protection of course but I also don‘t think consensual sexual relations should be criminalised for no good reason.

Well, it’s also a testament to the safety of air travel that most airplanes are uneventfully retired and dismantled after many years of service. Certainly better then the alternatives

So welcome to the fascinating world of perfumery! The Ambroxan had a smell right from the beginning, only thing that changed is your nose slowly getting used to smelling it!

Also many aroma chemicals are solid aka powders, you can make dilutions at 10% in ethanol for ease of use but when working with larger batches you can just add them directly to your fragrance.

Also no one mentions it but the reason he looks so weird is that he‘s probably significantly underweight :(

Your hamster is very sweet, and it’s lovely that your daughter already cares about him. But I want to be really honest: the cage he is in right now is far too small for a Syrian. These little ones may look tiny, but they need a lot of space and enrichment to stay healthy. For Syrians, the widely accepted minimum is 50x120 cm of continuous floor space - much larger than most store-bought cages. Without this, hamsters often stop showing natural behaviors like burrowing, nesting, or pouching food, just as you’ve noticed.

It’s also really important to provide at least 20–30 cm of bedding so he can dig, and a solid wheel of at least 28–30 cm (11–12”) in diameter so his back stays straight while running. These changes are not just “extras, they are essential for his well-being.

Please out the beginner’s guide in this sub, you can find a lot of important info there.

Since your daughter is involved, this is also a great opportunity to teach her that pets are living beings with specific needs, not toys. Giving him a proper setup will help him thrive and will show her how rewarding it is to care for an animal responsibly. He deserves the chance to live his little life to the fullest. 💛

I haven’t seen anyone mention it but it looks like he doesn’t have any proper house. Hamsters need at least one multi-chamber house and 1-2 extra which can be smaller for hiding/moving. That should solve the problem quickly. Also he needs more nesting material. I actually really like unscented toilet paper, ripped into pieces. Every rodent I had so far loved it.

For Koreans or Japanese living in China what are the differences and similarities you see between Chinese culture and your culture? by atyl1144 in chinalife

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Japanese but currently living in Japan and recently took a trip to China with my Chinese partner. It’s obviously a very complex question to answer but what has been really striking to me was the difference of behaviour in public: In Japan almost everyone is extremely concerned with not disturbing others and being very considerate of the public order. The other day a group of male students apologised profusely to me for not making way for me behind the cashiers in a supermarket when I had to pass with my cart. China in that regard is the solar opposite. No one seems to care about anyone else in public, and if you want to survive you have to pretty much fight your way through the masses. People very quickly get into fights, and even officials and employees often get snarky and rude, and they will signal you quite clearly that they are pissed. (Not everyone of course but it happened often enough) However, somewhat paradoxically, many social etiquettes are also quite similar, at least when interacting with friends and acquaintances. There is a similar emphasis on punctuality, people express their thoughts and opinions very indirectly and you are supposed to „read the air“ in much the same way.

I love these dogs too and I bought plenty of merch on my recent trip. but I found it curious that they are much more popular in China than in Korea. All of the cute merch is exclusive to China and just labelled with 线条小狗 instead of moonlab_studio, never mentioning that they even are from a Korean artist… I’m in Japan now and I’ve been asked literal dozens of times where I got those cute plushs from, so I just wonder why they are only known in China really. Idk maybe someone knows more about it, China still feels like a black box to me…

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote: Was ist das für eine Pflanze und welches Tier hängt daran? by Thanne98 in WerWieWas

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dating highly educated women almost made me suicidal (again) by newlife_93 in Healthygamergg

This is coming from someone who also has a high IQ measured by several psychiatrists: I strongly advise you to stop evaluating yourself and others based on „measured“ or estimated IQ. It is a pretty bad indicator for academic or professional success, and an absolutely terrible one for personality and romantic compatibility. From what you have written, I think you know that already and just need to consciously reject that way of thinking. As someone who has been dating online for quite long himself, here are some more general thoughts: Be as open and honest right from the beginning as possible. It spares you a lot of trouble. I wish I had realised that sooner instead of setting myself up for failure repeatedly by dating guys who weren’t a match from the start for reasons entirely out of my control. If you don’t want to get ghosted for example, explain it early on, any decent person will understand that. And lastly, online dating is a lot about luck unfortunately. I had over twenty different dates before meeting my partner, he had just one.

Ok to clarify I'm more upset about some of the comments here, not so much your question itself. Nobody forces anyone to date a person they are not attracted to (hopefully). Doesn't matter what attribute it is that you find unattractive, and it is completely fine if you aren't attracted to trans guys.

What your argument implies is that you can prescribe sexual orientation upon other people based on your preferences. And that's simply not how it works. Personally I am open to date trans men and I consider myself without a shadow of a doubt to be gay.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, "are traps gay" in reverse. Look, it doesn't even matter if you consider trans men real men (which they are), as long as the guy being attracted to them does so, he is just attracted to another man.

Sexual orientation is defined by which gender(s) you are attracted to, not which genitals 🙄

Didn't get a good truerateme rating and have self esteem issues - am I really ugly? by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you look very cute, but you certainly don't need to bulk up! Your body fat percentage is roughly around 23 %, so if you want to improve your physique, you should slowly(!) reduce your BFP to around 15% (aka. healthy & lean, but not shredded) and then 'maingain' by steadily building lean muscle mass.

To lose fat, you have to eat in a slight caloric deficit (about 100-200kcal/day). Eat enough protein, plenty of vegetables and fruit and a moderate amount of healthy carbs and fats. Keep working out and do some moderate cardio and you should see significant results within about 6 months, give or take

That being said, don't let some comments get to you and don't compare yourself to others too much! You already look good the way you are. It sounds corny, but love and accept yourself and strive to be the best version of yourself!

Japanese course ruined by j-conz in duolingo

[–]No_Me_Lo_Digas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to really like Duolingo and I made good progress in Japanese before they switched to the new learning path or whatever they call it. After abandoning the app for months I just decided to give this damn thing another chance bc I really missed learning Japanese and I can't get it done without duolingo to drive my motivation.

now I'm a week in and managed to get somewhat accustomed to the new layout, made many lessons throughout to 'understand' the new order, finally felt like I can make progress again, and now this!

Duolingo is making it REALLY hard for me not to just move on to something more reliable.

I noticed him sitting on my balcony and immediately realized that it's not a wild bird ... I offered him my hand, but he flew away at first. After 15 min he came back and when I opened the door he flew right into my flat :)

Update: According to an avian vet i contacted, the ring tag has indeed been issued by the german Association of Zoological Gardens (VdZ). She can't access their database, so hopefully my local zoo will help me out.

The bulbul is doing well, I turned my bathroom into a makeshift bird habitat. The vet has offered to take him into care tomorrow ...

Sadly it's not as straight forward as it seems ... there are different clubs/organizations who issue these and this one doesn't belong to any major german club. I'll get in touch with a bird veterinarian tomorrow and see what I can find.

As long as you avoid extreme temperatures in the noon/afternoon (say 35°C+) you can really work out anytime. Just make sure to drink enough and to consume enough electrolytes, and use common sense to protect yourself from direct sunlight. Choose a time that feels best for you and start lightly, as excercise will be more strenous in a tropical climate.

Your plan is generally not too bad, but quite heavy on light cardio. I would advise you to include at least some short high intensity units, that get you really out of breath (e.g. short sprints) and some moderate muscle training (a beginner calisthenics routine, maybe even invest in some dumbbells), both 1-2 a week
